hey people I really want to switch my manual windows to automatic and I've seen a couple of kits for like $70 for all 4? I ALSO want to put in auto locks :shock:AND lol a remote enginge starter :shock:do you guys know what price range I should be looking for and how hard it would be for me to install all of this by myself? Or is it cheap to get installed? Thanks

install is easy.

check to see if spal makes window kits for the 3.
as for power locks, easiest way is to buy some actuators from a wrecked 3.

remote start can be tough...with an alarm, install can be anywhere between 150-300 from what i've heard.

Will this actually work? Do you know if the wiring for power locks is already in the doors for manual locks? From what I've read it doesn't sound like it is, but I've never had that confirmed.

Given how many of the wiring harnesses for optional equipment are there even if you don't have the option, it wouldn't surprise me if the power locks and windows were already wired, and just need the parts installed. I'm pretty sure that all cars without nav, still have the harness for the controls below the center console--and that's a relatively uncommon option compared to power locks and windows.

It'd be pretty easy to pop off the door panel and see what's hanging out in there.

Electric Life makes some really nice OEM style power window kits, bolt right in and perform really well. Quiet and smooth, just like OEM. I've used alot of their kits and they've always been great. The kits themselves run about $200-300 for all 4 doors. Install is pretty simple, they bolt into stock locations in the doors. You'll need to run new wires into the doors and make a new harness. They also have a variety of switch pods that get mounted to the doors.

If you don't find any j/y Mazda3's, SPAL makes some good doorlock actuators. The install can be alittle tricky tho. You'll most likely have to run new wires and make your own harness. The actuators run about $10-15 each.

SPAL also makes some decent universal power window kits, but the install is tougher (not direct bolt in) but they aren't as quiet or as smooth as the Electric Life OEM kits. These kits run about $100-150 for all 4.

i dont know if this was discussed already, but id like to put a one-touch window up and down on all my windows. Right now i just got one-touch down, and only the driver side. Anybody know if this can be done to all the windows or if i can at least make the drive one-touch up/down, not just down.

I've never heard of an aftermarket 'one touch' window switch... but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
Google?

I'm sure something DIY could be made; how are you with electronics?

I'm no pro either... so take my advice with some large salt garins :-D
my only idea would be to use a transitor switch to control a relay which rolls up/rolls down the window. The transistor would be held in saturation by a capacitor for as long as the window needs to roll up/down. The cap would be charged when you hit the window switch.

You'd have to incorporate some feedback from the window to let your circuit know when it's no longer moving. That way if you roll the window up/down form halfway you're not still powering the motors.

Where'd you get the keyless entry installed? Do you know what brand it is? How do you like it?

Does anyone know what the thing in the yellow circle is?

Looks like maybe a shock sensor for a door alarm ?

OR possibly a sensor for side air bags etc
