ive searched a few set of rims off of tirerack and seems like the SSR's are the best choice for the mz3 HB.

would the 17x7 fit the stock tires? or the 17x7.5?

17x7" is ok. 7.5" is too much I think.

I would not want to run SSR Comps with ultra low profile tires. They are very soft. I have 6 of the 16x7 inchers in my garage that are bent. I maybe hard on wheels but I never bent a Mazda OEM wheel.

Well performance tires with our stock rims will help a heck of a lot more then a good rim with a crappy tire, and it is a lot cheaper. There are lots of good ways to go for summer tires, Toyo, Nokien, Bridgestone, Kumho, etc. They all have slightly different features, some of them are better in rain then others, some of them wear out faster then our brakes (haha), do some research before you drop the money on a set of tires.
