no cutting??! how the hell you gonna get your old exhaust off???

bolt on = clamps....plain and simple......

I agree with the 1st part. Cuz unless you drop the subframe you need to cut the OEM line.

But bolt-on does not necessarily mean clamps. Like the Vibrant.

Sedan Exhaust on a Hatch???

I have a local guy that is willing to give me one helluva deal on a Draxas exhaust. This only deal is that he had it on a sedan and I have a hatch. I know that is will be about 3" too long, but that is not big deal. What I am wondering is if the mounting brackest are in the same spot? Will this be just a simple job (minus the cutting and welding to take off 3")? I also am wondering if it makes a difference from manual to auto as far as exhaust is concerned.

Thanks in advanced!

atx or mtx doesn't matter.

hangars are in the same location, just trim the end.

Re: True bolt on exhausts

First things first is I'm paranoid I'm going to void the warranty. This is my first car with warranty on it. Secondly, the cops around here are starting to crack down on aftermarket exhausts. I had a Apexi dunk on my old civic and I got pulled over for it. All I did was pop my stock back on and ticket was dropped. I was hoping for something like this.

exhaust doesn't void your warranty.

ALL AVAILABLE CAT-BACKS ARE BOLT-ON. All of which requires 2 cuts on the stock exhaust piping to remove it. If you want to pay lots of $$ labor to save your old exhaust, have the shop remove the rear cross member. Of course, there might be potential problems of something going wrong later on doing the 2nd method (as the shop would most likely know more about exhausts and piping and not suspension stuff).

You already asked this question last month. http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=74987.0 PM Midnight_speeder on what his bumper cutout now looks like. Good luck.

You CAN get the old exhaust off intact without cutting or dropping the subframe. Just take it to a shop and have them get it up on a lift. It is kind of a pain but it can be done. They did it to mine when they put my Corksport in and it only took them a few minutes. I didn't even have to tell them to do it. They were like, "Well, we got the new exhaust in. Oh and we were able to get the old one out in one piece if you still want it."

I'd be very interested to know how they did it as the OEM exhaust is a one piece unit that goes around/under the rear suspension.

It's kinda mechanically and physically impossible to do without cutting or dropping the rear section of the car.

I mean how did you bring the OEM line back home cuz it will never fit on the trunk of your 3 if they didn't cut it anyways...?

There is actually a post on here somewhere that explains how it is done. They said it wasn't easy as they had limited room to work with but they did it. I will get pictures when I get back home because I am on vacation in Florida right now and the exhaust is in my garage in Nebraska. So probably in a week in a half I can take pics. In the mean time if someone has some free time try to search the forums here. I know it has been done before and they explained the method in a post from sometime last year. I cannot vouch for the sedan, but I know for a fact it can be done on the hatch because it was done on my car. :D

I had to borrow a friends truck to bring it home. They said they would keep it for me for a few days until I could pick it up. It caught me by surprise too because I didn't know it could be removed without cutting, so I wasn't prepared to ship it home.

Magnaflow exhaust's for an 07' 3?

I just got a 3i back in novemeber and I just started looking to get a catback for it. I noticed Magnaflow and they sound really great, but the year range is 03-06. Do I have to wait for them to come out with new ones? And will replacing my entire exhaust cause my warranty to get voided?

Re: Magnaflow exhaust's for an 07' 3?

It should fit fine, dimensions haven't changed, nor has much else. The exhaust wont void your warranty...it will for your old exhaust, which you are replacing...and if they can prove that your exhaust has cause damage to any part. (though very, very unlikely anything could result from replacing w/a catback exhaust.)
