06 3i Sedan -- 6" was an over-exaggeration.

I measured it today, the end of the tip is about 3 inches back from the bumper, give or take.
It's not that bad -- everything is still hooked up nice n' pretty underneath...

It was just kind of bugging me...I'm used to having exhausts stick out by at least an inch or so, but then this...

ehh, oh well. the sound compensates for the look -- like i said, i'll post pics once i find my camera.

yes but magnaflow may have only made one size.

regardless, just get a shop to weld an extension in. no biggie.

I agree its no biggie but having to cut and weld brand stuff you just got sucks. you would think they would make just a longer end piece.

yeah... i dunno, that's just money i really DONT feel like spending.

maybe down the road when i'm done with performance mods...
start doin' body work and end up fixing the exhaust pipe.

but like i said -- not money i want to spend. catch my drift?

Yeah I understand that, BUT if you drive that way you run the risk of melting your bumper. Feel like spending even more $ on that instead?

Our exhaust temps are pretty high, I would not chance it.

*found it was the hks that had melted a bumper not a magnaflow*

alright -- just got back from the shop...

they said i can do one of two things:
1) they can fabricate an "aluminum" pipe onto a "stainless steel" exhaust to extend it....OR
2) they can readjust the hangars (heat them up a bit and bend them) to make it hang down a little lower and away from my bumper....

any thoughts? i'm leaning more towards option 2, but i want another opinion...

thanks.

Actually, if you want to you can cut out the muffler and replace it with a strait pipe, I did for around 20 bucs at the muffler shop and it sounded rather good, however the passengers in the rear will not be able to have a conversation between themselves! I did replace it with the HKS HiPower system, and went from 20 miles per gal. to 28 miles per gal, even under the hard conditions (lead footed) I put my 3 through..I am however glad that I put the HKS system on I've notice a slight power increase..

The corksport only sticks out on the hatch. I had them modify mine before they sent it to me so it would be flush with the bumper. It should fit fine on a sedan with no issues. Corksport FTW!

cutting out the resonator would just make it louder.

the resonator is straight-flowing, and taking it off wouldn't add any gains.
adding an s-pipe or some other fabricated piping might give you a bit of gain (like 1-2 hp)...
overall, you're just gonna make it louder, with no noticeable gains...

just my opinion, someone correct me if i'm wrong. (pretty sure i'm right though...)

biped, i already got the magnaflow shipped and installed -- otherwise, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Meineke installed the exhaust for me, and my research is leading me to believe that they are the reason it's not sticking out far enough...
like i said earlier, it's about 3-4 inches back from the edge of the bumper (thus, it's melting the f*ck out of my bumper!)

I'm makin' them fix it for free with another stainless-steel extender pipe, so it's all good.

True bolt on exhausts

Are there any true bolt on cat backs? What I mean is no cutting and clamping/welding.. I'm really interested in the HKS and S-E exhausts and I don't want to cut anything so I can take it off and put the stock back on at any time (winter).

Re: True bolt on exhausts

there is really no reason to put the stock back on unless your selling the car.
You can get the stock off if you cut just once before the rear crossmember.
That way it could fairly easily be put back in and welded together.
Or if you really wanted to I suppose you could have the stock cut in 3 sections and have flanges welded on . that would make it truly a bolt on like the hks will after it is removed..
but yes hks or vibrant are both bolt on after removed and a few others like that as well.. corksport . etc.
