Hi guys,

I want to buy a pager/alarm for my MS3 but would like to know if this alarm would void the warranty if I get it from a non-Mazda dealership. I heard if you splice, cut the wires on the new cars can void your warranty but I;m not sure. What do you guys think?

Btw, which alarm (cheap/decent) pager alarm or non pager should I get? $200-$400 budget installed!

It's not cut-and-dried, but the question is whether your aftermarket part caused a particular problem that you want repaired under warranty. No aftermarket part can make the entire warranty disappear or become "void".

The only sure answer is if you get the factory alarm then it is covered under warranty and won't cause warranty issues. If you get an aftermarket one then you enter a gray area.

It really depends on what warranty issue you would be trying to have fixed, and how obvious it was that it was caused by the mod. For instance, If you splice into some wires, and your motor mount fails, they would have a hard time saying it was a cause and effect situation. On the other hand, if you develop some electrical issues, you would probably be out of luck. I have seen this issue discussed on other boards regarding other cars, and this is pretty much the consensus I have seen.
