I just bought the AEM Air Flow Straightener from StreetUnit for my Mazdaspeed CAI and the result are awesome, smoother idle and faster turbo response, etc. However, it threw a CEL right after I installed it and was wondering if anybody else has having the same problem? I did the install myself using the AEM CAI installation instructions (made it parallel to the MAF). Anybody know the solution to this?

Did you reset the ecu after installing? If not, do it.

On the process of installing the air flow straightener, I also did my periodic motor mount check and disconnected/removed the battery. That should have reset the ECU right? Or is there any other way that I dunno of?

If you checked the mount under the battery, that should of done it. But to make sure, you could disconnect, pump brakes a few times and leave it disconnected for 15-30min. If it still has a cel, either get the code pulled or try the Mazda orientation.

so wierd, when I had my Mazdaspeed CAI I put in the air straightener and it messed with my car at idle and low rpm's were really unsmooth so I took it off and it was perfect then I put it back on now that I'm running it in SR mode and it dropped my boost in every gear by like 5psi, it ran soooo slow it sucked so I don't know why I've had such a different experience than everyone else...gay...it runs beautifully without it though and yes I did reset the battery each time, I'm not a noob

There is really no what it can be doing this. There is something else involved.

faster turbo response from an air straighter, now I have heard everything. Can you say placebo. You might want to get the turbanator too.

Something else huh?? Thats strange to assume saying that the car works fine, I take off a section of piping, put in the air flow straightener, put the section of piping back on and it drives like crap with no boost. Then I change it back and the car runs beautifully...hmmm...don't know why you think it would be something else. I could show you first hand, we both live in Chicago. Maybe the weekend of the 27th if your free?

So whats the deal here? Is this thing any good or not? I was wondering if Mazda was actually going to give them/supply them to 1st gen buyers but I guess thats just a pipe dream.

I've never had a CEL, with or without the straightener.
