Well I'm looking for some braking improvement and when I was a super noob, looked at big brake kits and wished. From reading for the last few months I've learned there are better and much cheaper ways to make you have stronger brakes. I've heard around new brake lines make a big difference, does it? Is it a good buy?

They won't make much of a difference in daily driving, but when using the brakes aggressively and repeatedly (e.g. on a track) they will help prevent that squishy pedal feeling since they won't expand when heated up a lot. I would recommend putting in some good fluid (i.e. Motul RBF600) at the same time as the new lines for the best effect.

Ah I see, perhaps I'll wait then, cuz I haven't taken my mazda on a track yet even.

+1 they'll give a firmer pedal feel but you wont notice it much unless you're braking hard alot. try upgrading to slotted rotors and new pads first (i suggest hawk hps or ebc's)

Yeah when it was time for new pads I was gonna go with Hawks.

slotted rotors are a waste of money, better pads are NOT a waste of money

Well if he isn't even going on the track yet, I would say slotted rotors are a waste. Get some pads first and enjoy. Slotted rotors, IF you really need them for track, won't be needed for some time... you will know a lot more by then and know what to get and what to do to your car.

New pads no longer turn into gasses

organic ones still gas a bit when braking hard, material burns off. like ebc greens.

They still don't make sense unless you are doing some serious track duty. If you are braking that hard consistently on the street... then you have some other issues :lol:

pads dont really gas anymore as the organic material is nearly none existent in new pad compounds. while they can produce gases this only really happens at very high temps. slotted and/or drilled rotors will give you very very very little performance for the money you are spending on them. get a good set of pads and do a full system flush with some castrol syntec DOT4 brake fluid and you will be happy as a clam.

I had my ss lines and daily'd my car for like over a year before i autox'd. I think the ss lines are a good buy... hella stiffer and no more mushy pedal feel. make sure u bleed tho

It helped a lot... the SS lines definitely made it feel much firmer, helps when you want to heel-toe as well.

ultimately, you do things to your car for your liking, not what others tell you. People throw in bigger turbos and shit on their car and street their car and never hit the track. its all what you want.

true, but you can notice a turbo on the street.

From behind the wheel, I GUARANTEE you that you will never notice any difference with slotted rotors versus solid rotors unless you take your car on a TRACK (you won't even notice anything different at autocross, it'd have to be continuous lapping w/ repeated stops from almost triple digits).
