now we just need the info on the manual. Preferrably the manual with better tires than the stock POS rs-a's.
im not sure if its that accurate, top speed is 125? when the limiter only lets it go to 118? 16.8? i could have sworn are autos can go at least 16.5 or 16.4 ....but still pretty good i guess?

All the people with Mazda6 S auto can only get their car in low 16s to mid 16s. Nobody got into high 15s so far with MZ6s auto. So I doubt MZ3 auto would be same. 160 vs. 220 horses.

Ahh, I thought it was like 400 lbs. weight difference. Heh. MZ6 has like 60 more HP and 42 ft.lbs. of torque. No way MZ3 AT will beat MZ6 AT. If it does beat it, it sucks for MZ6 AT owners.
I wouldn't be all that surprized if the 6 was a bit slower than the 3 in the 1320, look at the markets for the 2 cars. The 6 is sold to older, generally stodgier people while the 3 is got more of a "Sport" thing going on.

The gearing can make a HUGE difference in drag racing. If the 3 is geared more aggressively it could totally happen.

In Australia atleast, the 2.3L MZ3 and the MZ6 have similar gearing ratios according to the brochures.
TOP SPEED = 125 mph While we MZ6 owners are in the so call FLAGSHIP cars that are limited to 120 mph. Mazda is on crack.
I thought we were electronically limited to 118?

i believe it is, thats why i dont think that test was accurate numbers are off...
ATL, mazda6 could probably hit 140 or more if that limiter is taken off. MZ3 would probably hit 125-130 Mph with limiter taken off since it's limited to 118.
Yeah thats true. The ST220 Mondeo uses the same engine specs and block and it tops out at 151mph. But sucks to read on your dash higher speeds that you will never see anytime soon. Beats the purpose of going to the race track and can't get it over 120.
Well I had a Mazda MX-6 and it cut off at 140... that had 164 hp in a 2.5 V6..

With the 2.3, at what RPM's does the limiter kick in? I'm really curious if a ECU reflash to raise the limit would do much...

hmmmmmmm if your JUST talking auto....i dont really know BUT i just got back from the drags with my manual completely stock Mazda 3 SP23 and got 15.717 @ 141.44 kph (87.89 mph)

Completely stock, 5 speed, no options but AC and spoiler, 2.0 liter sedan i. I am the one on the left. Thats about the best launch i could get out of the thing and it was a near flawless launch, if you were able to get a .000 reaction time thats like a 15.9 qtr mile. I think if driven right the i can keep right up with the s.

well
i got my 2.0 today

i had a nice straight away, decided to rev it like a motha fu*&a

in second gear it red lined at 110 km/h

because i didnt go to third gear i saved about a half second

im going to time it but it seemed as tho my 2.0 did about 7.8 seconds
im in australia and i dont think the ozzie vechiles have restriction in the speed as i have personally had mine up to 230km maxed right out at 6200 rpms in 5th gear...but once it hit like 210 it slowed right up but still if the road was any straighter i would of tried going up to 6800rpms but even at 230km the car was very light on the road. and the 2.3 pulls 114km in second gear. :D

Hmmm. Good job there - redlining the 3 as soon as you bought it. Do it a few more times to thoroughly and systemmatically destroy that nice engine under the hood. Who needs it anyway?
