I have a couple of questions about the heated seats:
1. Will the heater activate if no one is sitting in the seat?
2. Is the heater circuit left on like the headlights once the car is turned off and the key removed?

1. The heater will activate if the button is pushed, regardless of whether someone is in the seat.

2. The heater will not continue to heat the seat if the button is left in the on position and the car is turned off. You will notice that the little yellow light indicating the device is on will turn off when the car turns off.

1. Thank you, I was unsure about that.

2. I thought so however was unsure - my battery has been dying and the only variable that changed it was not leaving the heater on (remote start, need toasty seat ).

I noticed my warmers turn on and off to maintain an ideal warm BUTT temperature... I LOVE the heated seats on cold mornings. man it's the first thing I turn on after I start my car.

the seats must be off when the car is not running -- I haven't turned off the driver's seat in over 4 months...

I have REALLY been tempted to. Ever since I borrowed my mother's Outback for a few days I've been trying to find a local outfit that would be willing to do it, or at least wire the dash switches if I could get the pads in.

Personally I think putting the switches in would be much much easier than pulling off the seat fabric and getting the pads in.

Are you sure? The spec sheet only lists heated seats as being standard on the GTs, which are leather only. I don't see any way you can get the heated seats with cloth, even on the '07s:

Hmm, that's kinda cool. I didn't know you were up north (Your location is misleading; My mom's house is in Virginia). I wonder how hard it is to retrofit the Canadian cloth seat heaters into a US cloth seat, and how hard it is to get them from a Canadian dealer...

Don't bother going OEM. just get some aftermarket carbon fiber seat heaters. You can usually find them online for about $75/side.

Sometimes I turn on the passenger side to keep takeout food warm til i get home :lol:

I try to not overdo the heated seat thing... I think it's kind of bad for you like a hairdryer is bad for you. You know, those EMF harmful things and all. And no, I'm not kidding.
