anyone have a picture of the 5dr with the optional appearance package? I'm trying to decide whether not to spec it when I order my 3.

Where are you located? In the US there is no appearance package. For the 4-door there is a package called the sport package that has 17 inch wheels and side sills. This package comes standard on the 5-door models though.

Hint: put your pocation on your profile because there can be some major differences from country to country.

for canada, there's no package available for 5dr

there are only 2 model trims. For exterior, the higher trim level (GT) only provides the rear spoiler and 17in wheels

sorry...Im in the US, I'm still confused though because the Mazda USA website lists an appearance package as a $600 dollar option that includes a front spoiler and rear sills.

hmmm...that makes sense, I wish I could picture the entire car with those parts on it. Im trying to decide between a 2004 GTI 1.8t and the 5dr 3s with pretty much all the options except the automatic. I love the looks of the GTI but its an old design and doesnt have a lot of the interesting options that the 3 does, however I can't quite get used to the looks of the 3, I was hoping the appearance package might make me forget my doubts about the looks.

well, if you cant take the looks of the car, I dont think you are looking at the right car. The people on this forum bought the 3 (or so I believe) because its such a beautiful design. The looks make the car. The appearance package will not change the look of the 3 much at all. They are subtle changes to individualize the car a little for personal taste.

There are many different packages that can come with the hatchback. In the U.S, the specific apearance package is not standard. The U.S standard package that comes with the hatchback is the S package. You can tell the difference between the U.S S package and the appearance package only by the extra spoiler lip near the fog lights in the front that to the average eye is unnoticable.

thanks for the advice yall...I still have 2 weeks or so to decide, it usually takes me a while to warm up to new designs anyway. I do think that small subtle changes like a a front or rear underbody spoiler can totally change the looks of a car.

the dealership i went to har the appearance package on a few 3's and it didnt do anything for me at all. the only thing i liked was the rear diffuser. it just gave the back a little more style but for the rear and front lip, save you $$$.

Those photos don't look any different than how my car already looks...especially the rear aero flares (???) Comparing the lip spoiler pic to the picture of the stock HB in the brochure sitting next to me, it looks nearly identical (am I missing something?)

actually no..
the aero flares has this "flare" that comes out on the rear bumper as u saw in the photo...

however, our cars doesn't come with that...

I got a Canadian M3 Sport GT... as far as I know that was the only appearance thing to it (Sporty Fogs, new grille new tailights etc.) is there like a skirt package that you people are talking about or something?
