I think a stock RX8 can pull that off. I doubt that a stock 3 would do it. Now if it was lowered with 19" rims, in velocity red, and 20% tint and a functional NOS sticker ...

I've got a Schroth Rallye 3 harness in my 93 Ford Escort station wagon. The Rallye 3 & 4 are the only DOT legal harnesses, and even so, I wouldn't remove the stock seatbelts if I were you. The way in which a standard 3 point safety belt works in an automobile (the ones that come stock) is much safer during an impact than a harness.

If you plan to autocross a harness can help you drive much better. I have Corbeau race seats to go along with the harness, but when I first installed the harness it was on the stock seat. While it's not exactly hard to put on and off each time you get in the car, it's frustrating that you can't reach the glovebox while strapped in, and that even the radio dials seem further away. Oh, and looking over your shoulder in traffic.. much harder. The good thing about the Schroth Rallye harnesses is that they can be disconnected from the rear attachment so that the back seats can be used, and the belt can be draped around the rear of the seat so that you can use the standard belt when you're not on the track.

BTW, my escort is in Street Prepared and I'm sure lots of people think it looks wrong (Race seats in a wagon?? That's a grocery getter!) ...until I outrun them.

Your friends will laugh at you if you wear a harness on the street.. and rightfully so. :wink:
