3 different bumpers??

4041 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  dinu01
I believe I am seeing three differnet bumpers in these pics

#1-standard, non-sport (red) #2-sport trim (Tit grey)

and #3-(silver hatch)looks the same as #1, but a little different

The lines that follow the inside of the headlights seem to continue further down on the bumper. And the lower fog light opening seems to be a little bigger on #3. Can anyone tell me what #3 is. An option? Japan (Axela) only?

Yeah, the angle is the issue there. The Sport Package front bumper though has that line through the fog light housing with a slightly larger intake and a lower clearance
must disagree on the angle theory on this one. look at the hood. the red hatch's hood line runs above the mazda symbol and clearly has no line any lower than that. however, when you look at the silver hatch, there is a very apparent line running under the mazda symbol level. as far as why though...i'm clueless at this point.
Different models...

I think the top photos are both sedans which have different body panels than the hatches, hence the difference in bumper styles, hoods, fenders, etc.
in any case. I'm probably getting the fully loaded Canadian version...and I think I like the lower "non sport" one better
The sedan and hatch will have 2 different bumpers à la P5 and PRO sedan.

The red sedan is Euro spec 2.0 (top of the line) and the grey one is NA spec 2.3L top of the line. Don't forget that bumper testing usually dictates larger bumpers for NA.

so that would make the silver hatch the Japan spec for the non-sport??
Oh, OK. I get it now. The Hatch and the Sedan have different front bumpers. I was (incorrectly) thinking they both had the same front end. My mistake. Thanks for the info.

Yep!

Or I could be wrong. I can't seem to find any info to actually confirm this.
Ok guys this is it. I'm almost 100% sure this is correct:

Red sedan: Top of the line (GT in Canada)
Titanium sedan: Top of the line WITH GFX Package.

Only the top of the line gets fog lights just like the current Protege, so this makes more sense.
wow really? maybe my opinion will change when I see it in person. but I like the non GFX front. Reminesence of the MZ6
Yes. We also know that the GFX package includes the body-colured grille so we can conclude that this is the case. Do you concur Doctor? :)
Oh and just to add to it: another thread I have put to rest :)

Unless ATL sees it...
