Hi all over the pond, I'm looking at fitting some wheels and tires as above. Nobody on the UK forum has any experience first hand so cannot comment for sure... wondered if ay of you guys could confirm they will fit ok without rubbing on lock etc..

Thanks...

225/45 is a bit tall. You should either stretch 215/45/18 (stock size) tires on there, or run 225/40, or 235/40. 225/40 is going to throw your speedometer off a bit (its what many Mz3 owners use)... 235s would be your best bet and should be fine on those wheels considering theyre 8" wide.

On a side note, do you have a picture of your car? What exactly is the "aero kit?"

I run 225/45/18 Bridgestone S03's on my car with RX8 wheels and lowered on Mazda3 Eibachs. No problems with rubbing except for in high load corners when I have two passengers in the back seat and even then it just barely rubs for a split second. No rubbing in the front at all.

^ it is bigger than the stock/recommended size though. If the tires are already mounted on the wheels (which I assume they are), then it'll be fine... but its not the best size.

Side by side the s03's were less than 1/4" taller.

yeah, I understand the difference is not much... but it is enough to throw off your speedo by a few percentage points.

I hear you. But, before I bought the tires I did the calculator thing online and it said it'd be off by .8 mph with the new tires. I could/can live with that :)

Yep, there'd be a way bigger difference then obviously.

The main reason I got these in the size I did is because TireRack was having a clearance sale on them because they were the last few left in inventory and they weren't getting any more (discontinued). I was looking for 225/40/18's but they were only available in that specific size, at only $115 a tire, normally something like $340 per. Too good of a deal for me to have passed up so I grabbed them. They're awesome tires.

IIRC, 225/40 throws off the speedo more than 225/45 on the speed3. As I said, 235/40 would be the best, but for the price you paid, you cant argue.

Do you have any pics? Would like to see how your ride height compares to mine... Or just look at the pics of mine in this post and then tell me if its lower/higher/same as yours...
Thanks. :)

Yea, duh, my bad, I forgot those were of your car. And actually, I'd definitely say my Ms3 is lower than that, with the fronts, I have less than a finger width's gap.
