2011 model BL Mazda 3 hatch ABS module replacement

G'day -- I own the above model Mazda from new and last year the ABS module decided to quit, the dealer had a play with the diagnostics and brought it back to life for a few months and has since died again.

In October 22 we paid the full price for a new ABS module to be shipped from Japan and to date, we are still waiting for this part to arrive.

My question is -- has anyone else world wide had this wait problem for a new ABS module or how did you get around this?.

Thank you for any information forthcoming.

You bought a part in October, and it still hasn't shown up? Woah. That's crazy.

I guess just live with it for now.

So 5 months and waiting, paid just under $3K AU dollars because the dealer wouldn't order unless paid for prior the order being sent, the 20th of each month is supposed to be parts arrival day, phone up to check with our local dealer who then have to contact Mazda Australia in Melbourne, and so far to be told that no ABS module this month, so now we wait until the 20th of April to be told the same exact answer as before, if the answer is different, I may give a sucking pig to the Hospital.

I could have my module repaired by technicians in Melbourne for just under $2K AU dollars with 12 months warranty, so far my problem is finding a mechanical workshop that is capable of doing this work and re-programing the module if required.

That is why I posed the question about anyone else having this problem and how they went about it, not many answers as yet.

Been living with it now for 5 months, and living with it now is getting a bit thin, the worst is not being told why no part.
Time to get money back (or file claim with credit card or something). Credit card company or Paypal will side with you as you never received product. 5 months for a part is nonsense. Maybe get ABS repaired if need be, I have done that several times and been successful.

I'll hang in for a little while longer, am waiting on a reply from the dealership as to where the part may be or if it is being manufactured at all.

I was more interested to find out how the back yard mech got on with replacing the module with a used or rebuilt module and not having the Mazda Diagnostic program to reset after installation, there just seems to be so much hooha!! about the diagnostics and yet I read on here where blokes are swapping engines and trannies with little problem.

I'll reply when I hear the results from the dealership.
Can't you find one in a junkyard?
I can find many at wrecking yards and on ebay, but it would be my luck of installing one and a month later or so, it would die also.

The module has to be new or rebuilt, I will write this again, most mechs in my area wont touch the ABS module installs because of the Mazda Diagnostics software required and the outlay to purchase same.
Finally received a reply from dealership, supposedly 13 new modules being finished from production run, 4 of these coming to Townsville, Nth. Queensland and hopefully one will be for my Mazda, these are supposed to land in Oz. towards the end of April 23, shall see!!.

Thanks for help and advise
New ABS module was fitted to the 3 on the 10th May, all ongoing problems are fixed with the install, now waiting for a new aircon evaporator, the original has a pin hole leak, and I wont have this fixed because of 8 hours labour to remove and install.

Evaporators are a MOFO to replace. The entire dash has to come out.

I wrote that previous post in a hurry, "and I wont have this fixed because of 8 hours labour to remove and install", that quote can be read a couple of ways, I meant it to read, "I wont repair the original because of labour cost to remove and replace and possible failure later", I have a new evaporator on order.
While you're in there, use that opportunity to add sound deadening to the firewall.

That is a good idea, car dealership will be doing the job though, I cannot say if engine noise is a problem though, tyre noise is the worst.
