Thanks for the link, I couldn't find it myself. I paid 17250 before ttl for my 07 S Hatch, with cargo tray, net, and wheel locks. That would be 19380 MSRP on the new hatch. Then again, I think the MSRP on mine was around 18500/19000 back in Dec 06.

I cant wait to find out more info on the MS3.

It will also help in pricing if you know how to drive a manual and its worthwhile to drive one

I know this is a loaded question, as the idea of auto vs. manny elicits one's passions. That being said, I'm on the fence on auto vs manny. It's been many years since I've had a manual as a daily driver, but I also commute via Motorcycle, so I really like the idea of going back to a manual in my next car. My concern is, for a daily driver is it practical? When I think of all the gadgets (I love gadgets), such as bluetooth, ipod, sat radio and nav that MY new 3 will have, how much a pain will it be to use those items when I'm shifting through my canyons on my 100 mile daily commute? Obviously, those kinds of toys are not present on my motortcycle and I can just enjoy the gear changes. Thanks!

You have to question if you are at constant speed enough. I know many people want the auto because they are in nothing but stop n go traffic. I know manual can be a pain in that type of environment.
So you have to see just how much shifting you would be doing.

Most of my driving is not so much stop n go, so I dont mind the manual in it. Plus I autox and take the car to the track and in that instance a manual is a must IMO.

Fortunately my drive does not have alot of stop and go, for that reason I can consider it. I was mainly concerned with my canyons, which are about a a quarter of my daily ride. Any problem using the gadgets, such as nav in those conditions?

Hopefully you wont need the nav for your daily commute ;)

With the nav controls on the steering wheel, I doubt you'll have any trouble. As I'm sure you know, shifting becomes second nature when you do it daily, so the micro tasks we take on while driving aren't really any more difficult than they would be in an ATX car.

This is true. You sort of learn to subconsciously anticipate when you're going to need to shift and do all of your other actions in between. Don't ask me how but I'm able to eat, play with my phone, mess with the radio and a bunch of other stuff all while driving and shifting flawlessly. I will admit, however, that all that crap would be easier if I had an auto but, on the other hand, the manual forces me to pay more attention to the road and less attention on that other stuff which is probably one of the bigger reasons why I've never had an accident in 12 years of driving. (knock on wood)

Good point! I know on my motorcycle, I'm into every turn mentally, in my car all I usually remember is leaving and arriving... not sure what happened in between!

On that note, I'm definitely leaning toward the manny, (and yes, I shouldn't need Nav on my commute DOH!  ), I just wished there was a bit more advantage mpg-wise!  Thanks for the input!

My dealer said they were taking orders for the 2010 MS3 but the cut-off date is 3/3/09 (Same date as the Geneva reveal) and I haven't been able to get any pricing or ordering info. Has anyone been able to retrieve this info from their dealer?

I saw this posted in another thread. I don't really believe that they would be taking orders before the car is officially revealed. If you can place an order with the dealership, then they should be able to tell you the price. Whether what your dealership said is true or not, I bet the price of the new MS3 will be within $1000 of the current generations base price.

I agree. Ford will release the official order guides and invoice pricing as soon as they start taking orders. I see no reason to deviate from this logic.

FWIW, I called another dealership and they said the 2010 sedan will be available 3/3 and the 2010 hatchback will be available this summer. They said there was no info on the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 and the saleslady said that Mazda was testing the waters and may release the MS3 for MY2011 instead of 2010. :(

I don't buy that, the car is already on mazdausa website. I am pretty sure around the release date (03/03) we will get the pricing info.
