If you're going to go through the expence and effort of installing the bose system I would reccomend you go aftermarket and get better sounds quality for ~the same price and installation labor.

sorry i need to make myself clear,i have the 2007 Bose 7 speaker system and to hook it up without setting off codes,it needs to be hooked up maybey in a special way(i had a basslink/pioneer amp*GM6100F and new JL-TR door speakers)but kept the stock Boes HU.It appears unless they (Mazda dealer)can recommed a new way to hook up this system it will have to come out,at least the amp & basslink. If so hopefully the JL audio speakers will sound better than those Bose. The body control module got fried, just the way the audio guy hooked it up.Even the dealer said in theory he did it correctly, but the stock system is very sensitive to any manipulations and splices into the systemand this is the first he has seen this. They are going to fix it but the amps/basslink is disconnected. This is why i am asking owners of the 2007 MSP3 w/7 Bose speaker system if you have done any replacements or upgrades on this system and what happened ?Always upgraded my previous cars-never a problem and this system was rockin-perfect/bass and loud & clear, almost making your ears bleed... :(

You need to get a good LOC... im gonna be using the Audio Control LC6i.... and i have the same system as you... im just gonna install the LC6i right by the amp under the drivers seat and run the wires back to the trunk for my JL Audio 500/5 Amp and JL Audio XR speakers... probably gonna use a eD 10 sub, thats all you need.

You are gonna have problems if you are going to try and power after market speakers on that shitty amp that Bose threw in the car... not sure what that amp is set at for Ohm rating and you might only get a big 20 watts a channel if that...

I was looking at the JL Audio Cleansweep but it was too much money... the Audio Control is about 129 for the unit and has alot of nice features to it compared to just standard $20 LOC.

Thanks for your reply, the Bose amp was disconnected and the Pioneer GM100F amp was used to power the door speakers(JL Audio TR).I believe the signal for the Basslink was from the Bose sub with a new power supply .The dealer has the specs on the aftermarket and is going to review it with the tech and see if their is a safe hookup(he got the wiring schematics) and let me know. The body control module was replaced and it is back to factory specs.I am going to show my install guy your e-mail,see what he thinks-this all started after the Basslink was installed, the door speaks & amp were put in a week later,we just thought that a computer reflash at the dealer would do it-NOT, something in his install is setting it off, wish i was a electro wiz but i'm not so tbc... thanks again for your input, let us know how your system turns out

PS-the JL Audio speakers are the best and i've had a bunch of them, yes $$$ but max vol with pure clean sound

what did your install guy use to hook up the sub and amp? you need to ask him what he put in there, cause he could have just put it in there any which way... some installers dont care when they put stuff in... just as long as they get paid.

i would seriously look into getting a Audio Control LC6i... especially if you are going to be doing a decent install.

i do not know alot about electro hook ups but i believe he said he ran a seperate power supply and got the signal from the Bose sub and something about splicing into the cig lighter and used the stock(i believe he said it has 2) LOC.not high quality but works and some other mumbo-jumbo(alot of trust for him). The dealer is in a jam because the tech broke the AC control and denied it but then change his mind,so they are covering it on warrantry. The bottom line which is why i'm going with the installer-he wants a acurate diagnosis on why the BCP went bad before he pays for it.He said its possible it was bad or getting ready to break and was just waiting for a "event" as in a 10-15 min disconnect at the battery terminal. This audio tech is certified and has done many cars and won shows. It will be interesting to see what "evidence" that caused the BCM to go bad, because the audio guy is paying for it but wants to know what he did wrong. He and the owner even went to the dealership and before disconnecting the system and talked to them showing them the hook ups and apparently it works but something (surge ?) fried the BCP module. The dealership tech was a bozo and got tongue tied when the volt-meters came out.The dealership is being careful about this one.Even if it is covered under warranty my "mod system" is still disconnected---should of kept my 05 Toy Matrix xr(2 subs/amp/kenwood door speakers/pioneer HU)but corolla engine
web site - - - i would still go to them, they do to many cars-this one is just a mystery, yes they have done Mazda 3's
owner said this is a expensive job or could be for him and he won't touch my car anymore(just removing the disconnected items) tbc .................
plazma-i told him about your plan and he said in theory it should work, another audio guy told me you have to remove the whole system becuase its so inter connected the computer will freak and surge ???

i think you are causing yourself too much pain with sticking with a moron of a installer.. if a guy screwed something up of mine.. i would have his ass for it and never go back to him again.... is he the only guy in town that installs stereo equipment?
Sounds like he doesnt know anything... he probably thought he could do the job cause he put a head unit in his friends Chevette 10 years ago.

Re: 2007 MSP3 Bose upgrade / success or bust ???

yeah your probably right,he told me in the beginning that a basslink would not sound good in my car but i told him i would be the judge of it-sounds great for my economic tastes.hmmmm makes me wonder, should of gone to circit city or best buy.See what happens ,it sucks i will be out around 600 bucks or so in labor charges,he said he will remove the items for free and write a check for the dealership charges-should get the labor reimbursed also but will keep the JL Audio stuff.I just will have to find some shop or someone that can do this without upsetting the electronics in this car - - -pain in the *#@% !!! The guy is very nice and even the dealer said his electrical knowledge/theory is correct but the BCM had another opinion. Also he hooked 2 10in street glow lights under the dash tied to the cig lighter with a simple button in the lower dash-looks great/works but once again was this the culprit or the basslink ?
thanks for your replies and reads-i'm very interested in those who have a 2007 MSP3(GRAND TOURING) w 7Bose speaker system and their upgrades - - - success or bust ?

not sure how much you paid for that basslink... but for the money, you could could have gotten a killer sub and a good amp for under 300....
I mail order all my stuff cause its cheaper than what they want around here for it... i got the JL Audio 500/5 for $400 bucks and thats enough power for what i want to do... and its all built into one amp.

I think with all your extra stuff you added on like the lights and all that stuff could be part of the culpret, not the bose system.
Hard to say cause im not sure how this guy wired anything.

interesting turn of events-heard from the dealer today, make long story short the audio install guy screwed up my car when he drilled thru the firewall but partially going into the computer module then backing out and drilling a second hole(correctly)resulting a fried BCM/speedometer etc, etc. The dealer was great and fixed all the connections correctly so it would not strain the system, put a relay in the system and changed the paths of electricity pull etc,i'll post the details when i get the invoice. It is going to cost 2200-2800 and guess who is going to pay every cent of it.I just need acurate documentation from the dealer which he is going to provide and he is going to call the owner of the audio store to explain things. It has been a learning experience and the dealer took care of all of it to make it work, which surprised me because i always thought they were against aftermarket setups. He even said the system sounds excellent and the techs loved it(compared to the stock Bose system)What makes me pissed is that they could of done something that made the car unsafe and caused a accident as in the car not performing correctly.I just want my car back with a rockin sound system which it seems to finally happen.Yes you can do a upgrade to this car, just very carefully and safely and with someone who truly knows what they are doing. These cars are high tech and smart, needs the same as in the person who works on them. :p

i have the stock hu/JL Audio TR 6.5in speakers (comp)in the front and co-ax in the rears with a Pioneer amp 60 rms pushing the power to them and a basslink in the back of the hatch. How does it sound - very loud and clean.Yes with a aftermarket hu the bass/treble can be cleaned up but it is many steps above the stock unit.I do not know why the dealerships do not offer great audio systems as a option with reasonable pricing. Also i have neon blue street glow lights in the front, looks nice.No more mods for awhile, live and learn.
