2007 Mazda 3 AC worked fine yesterday, today it blows warm

I recetnly bought a Mazda 3 2.0 and before purchase, the AC was working great, during the past days it also worked great. I replaced the battery and after that the AC blows warm. I can hear and feel the clutch engaging, and even hear the hissing inside the cabin for a few seconds after the AC is turned on, but there's no cooling.
What should I check? It's a little hard to beleive that it lost the freon in one day.

Jiggle the fan speed selector switch. That's a known issue.
If that doesn't work, swap the AC relay fan with the horn fan. It's in the fuse box under the hood.

mine has the autmatic climate control
either way, i can hear and feel the clutch engaging

update: not only I hear the compressor, I also visaully confirmed it is engaging, pressed the tabs on the low and high sides and it seems to have freon, but the low side doesn't even get mildly cold. weird, compressor spins, fan kick on, everything works but it doesnt get cold at all, could there be a leak?
I have a 2009 hatchback and mine did the same thing. Only exception is that it worked, then it didn't, then it did... You get the picture. The green A/C light also blinked at me. After 10yrs faithful service I expected that the Freon was low, but I had NEVER replaced the cabin (climate control) air filters.

I had the filters so I decided to do that overdue maintenance. Once I did (at great personal pain  to myself) the issue resolved. So if your A/C begins to cool again suddenly this could be the issue. My guess (for my issue) is that the climate control system has a sensor that measures the flow of air across the evaporator or maybe the evaporator won't work correctly if the airflow is below specs...

You guys are probably laughing at me behind your screens (for this simplistic response), but it is a true story.

Nice, thanks for the update. Look for oil to locate leaks, replace those cabin air filters :)

2007 Mazda3 was initially parked outside for it's first decade - for years under a crepe myrtle. When I took out the cabin air filter after a few years, it was damn near completely clogged. Now, I'd also like to have a word with whoever decided how to access the cabin air filter, but that's another thing :)
