For no good reason im curious to see what you would choose? Both go for about 30k with similar mileage. Im in love with both...not buying either just curious...

Im also factoring in longevity. Im not done with my gti yet but im thnking these are my next choices. Ie never driven either but im really favoring the sti for some reason.

You should add a poll to this thread. Id pick the Sti myself because ive always wanted one but if I had a wife and kids i would get an M3

I have a wife and kid. We fit fine in my gti.

What? The Subie would be a better family car (bigger back seat, trunk, mandatory 4 door etc.).

Having said that, buying a used WRX/STI is risky given the average demographic of their owners (i.e. boyracers/ricers). M3 owners seem to have a lot more appreciation of the car they own.

I'd personally choose the M3........Either one is kinda "risky".......The Subbie is always scary to buy used as you don't know how hard the previous boy racer drove it......The M3 I feel like usually has more conservative day to day drivers, but when shit does break on them its expensive.........Plus I really dislike the new look of the new Subbies. I rather buy an older gen for aesthetics alone.......With all that being said, I can think of several cars I rather spend 30 grand on....

Ohh god, I almost forgot to take into consideration how much nicer the interior is in the BMW....

the M3, unless you think you might have problems affording the service costs.

The WRX/STI isn't a pinnacle of durability, either. Certainly isn't "cheap" to repair relative to other vehicles.

Not to mention the interior quality on the WRX/STi's is about on par with a 1987 Ford Festiva.

It's nice, classy, and ages beautifully. But it's aged, the BMW of today don't look that much different from the interior of the e46 M3.
