Hello all! I have a 2006 2.0 mazda3, I was having a hard time starting it and got it scanned, it gave me a code for a faulty crank sensor. It was replaced with original mazda part. The code is now gone but I get no spark still. Battery was disconnected when replacing the sensor for safety.

Are you sure that the code was for the crankshaft sensor and not the camshaft sensor? I've had to replace the camshaft sensor twice on my 3. When the first one was going out it would crank for 30 sec before starting and when it did the CEL was on with a code for the camshaft sensor. The second time it just shut off while driving and would not restart, it also had the same code.

No new codes... I noticed that one of the wires was exposed, I wrapped it with electrical tape. Maybe that caused the other sensor to fail? Could it have damaged the ecu? Like I said no codes after replacing the sensor. Car still won't start.
