Does anyone know when the "second batch" of Mz3s will be produced. I think its sometime in March and April for Acura where they try to address some initial kinks and integrate the processes to their manufacturing so the second batch production cars have most issues resolved. I think they literaaly close down the manufacturing plant for a couple of days to retune everything. Correct me if I'm wrong or sound farfetched, I just read that from another acura board.

Its going to be interesting to see if majority of the kinks are going to be worked out this summer (ECL, Air Bag sensor, rattles, squeaks, grooving, etc). It could mean buying the car this summer for me or holding off till next summer. WHICH would suck big time I might add because I'd love to experience this summer with a car.

But waiting to buy a car is like waiting to buy a computer, if you wait...you'll never buy one because something else will be coming out aka 2006 Honda Civic (redesigned platform and obviusly the K20 engine 160 HP to match with everyone else) Can't wait to see what Honda has to respond with.

Tough Tough choices.

I sure hope the second batch fixes the minor problems they are having and I hope that batch is soon. The dealers in this area are very short on the 3s, but that may not be too bad since it will force me to wait for the batch which is due to arrive in late march/ early april.

Cars are not produced in "batches". Running changes are made throughout production, throughout the year. The nearby Nissan plant here shuts down twice a year, once in summer and once in the winter, for maintanance, etc., but not to "install" fixes to the cars.

I know cars aren't produced in "batches" like cookies and other sh!t like that. Thats why I used the quotation marks.

I guess the plants shut down, to modify/maintain some of their manufacturing processes? I don't know.

Who knows, I guess I will wait till 2005.

At least I will have more money.

This is straight from BrunoLuong's site:

Jim O'Sullivan, CEO of Mazda North American Operations, says Mazda3 inventories will be increased slowly so dealerships won't be swamped with cars and a lack of marketing support. Advertising spots will begin in late January, but a true launch campaign won't begin in earnest until March, when the Mazda6 hatchback and wagon also arrive, O'Sullivan says. "We will not dump 90 boats on our dealers in December," he says. "I'd think we'd be lucky if we run 1,000 cars a month through the ports in January and February. We'll get a big availability in March, April and May."
I'd say this summer will be a great time to buy, that's when I'm planning to anyway. I also think this next 'batch' of cars will have many of the kinks worked out of them.
