I'm about to purchase a new 2009 Mazda3 i Touring Value which comes standard with 17" wheels (205/50 tires). My plan is to talk the dealer into swapping the wheels/tires for a set of 16" (205/55 tires) that come standard on the basic "s" trim model. I want the softer ride and more (cheaper) tire options. The difference in diameter is less than 1% so the speedo should not be an issue but I'm wondering if this will cause any problems with the tire pressure sensors or anything else I'm not thinking of.

Thanks,
Ric

The 17" wheels were one of the things that turned me off to the i Touring Value.

Can't see why you'd have any TPMS issues. I'm using the ones from my i Sport's stock steel 15" on some 'Sport' brand 15" aluminum wheels from Tirerack. Works just fine. I had some 17" Kazera wheels, but they eat too much torque from the 2.0l for my taste.

Definitely get the alignment checked though, that may need adjustment if you change wheel sizes.
