tuesday went to ATCO. ran 13.6 at 106mph with 2.3 60ft (haven't checked my tire pressure after dealer visit. was at 36psi). 1st list, 1st run, 2nd list 2nd run(best), 3rd miss shift didn't continue.
there were 2 bmw 335 and one 135. all chipped and with intakes. best run by mt 335 13.4. 135(auto) ran 13.6 at 106 and 4dr 335 (auto) ran 13.7 at 105. (all with after market tires and lowered tire pressure.

not a bad time, but you should be able to improve on the 60

Stock Bridgestones? Drop them to 22-24psi. Don't do a burnout either.

+1. don't get too crazy with it thogh, fill em up right after the track days, be easy in the turns. Low tire pressure (in stock tires and most everyday tires) is bad for it. It will eat your side walls at 22 psi, and outer tire. It's not a big deal if you do it couple of times at the track.

A oem tire or "stock" tire has a tread compound designed to try and maintain a certain temperature. Heating up a tire that's trying to cool itself down is just a waste of tread.

The only time the tires should be "spun" are if your trying to get rock/debris off or when you're launching.

or if there is water bed right before the track and you can't go around it. Some tracks have that, so do a little burn out to get rid of the water, but heating up stock tires will only be worse.

Hmm, didn't know that... how do you guys launch? Mine seems to spin so easily that I barely rev at all before I drop the clutch to reduce tire spin when I autoX. Is there a better way for the 1/4?

Do that, except faster. I don't think I've ever launched my car past 2,800 rpms.

Well, I used to launch around 4,800 in my civic with slicks and never let go of the gas pedal. I was hitting 1.75-1.80 60's every pass. The tracks I've gone to have been STICKY. All depends on track conditions. If you go there and it's 60 degrees out and they haven't sprayed the track in a few hours, you KNOW you can't launch how you want to.

Why do you need to launch in auto-x? A little bit of wheel spin off the line is all you need.

a little wheel speen is good, it means you are on the edge of the grip. If you have no wheel speen at all, that means you can push it a bit more. Depending on the tires that you have, i launched at around 2800-3000(stock tires), i would think with a bit better tires you can do 3500. 1/4 mile sucks for our car, it's really not for it.
