I am getting the MTX Thunder895 5 Channel amp. I am wondering if I will need 1 or 2 Line Level Convertors? I read somewhere about about losing the ability to fade control with only 1, but can't seem to get the concept.

Basically I want to do the following:

Fade from left to right, and back to front, and be able to control the level of bass at any volume. I am unsure if this is considered fading the bass as well in which case I will need 2 Line Level Convertors I guess.

Anyways can someone please explain how the hookup from the head unit to the amp would work in a 1 and 2 Line Level configurations, and which one is appropriate for my needs. Thank you!

yes you will need 2 LOC's

here is my ghetto drawing:

see, if you only use 1 LOC, you can only amp 2 channels. and you have a 5 chan amp.

you will need 2 LOC's 1 for front chans and 1 for rear chans, this will allow you to control the fading (front to back) on your HU.

the only other way to do it with 1 LOC is to run 1 set of RCA's into an RCA splitter to feed the other 2 channels for speakers.... As it is, with your 5 chan amp, you may need to do that with the rear LOC's RCA leads anyway.

Thanks alot Roan..a few more questions..

Doesn't this mean that you need 2 LOC's for a 4 channel amp as well to fade like you say?

Also, How does the sub connect to the LOC in this diagram. Or maybe it doesn't and connect directly to the amp? Sorry for being ignorant...but i am learning. Thanks.

Yes, you would need 2 LOCs for a 4ch as well.. if you want to fade.

The sub channel on a 5ch amp gets the signal from the front and rear. Thus, its called non-fading sub channel.

Most 5ch amps will have an RCA in for the sub channel, but its not necessary to use it. If your not worried about fading, then you only need 1 LOC, as the amp will split the signal.
