Crawling under the car today (2009 2.3 PZEV Hatch) it looks like the only flange on the stock cat back is at the cat itself. Is it possible to remove the stock cat back without cutting the pipe or dropping the rear axle? If so I'm assuming you must need a lift to get it high enough to snake it out.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I did search, and it pulled up a whole lot of threads about aftermarket exhausts, but nothing about removing the OEM one.

The one how-to thread I found had a link to a word doc regarding removing the exhaust, but that link is dead. Any clues?

Or.... Unbolt the rear suspension.

Come on, are you really gonna use the stock exhaust again?

Try the 2nd muffler delete first (also search-able on this board) if you are looking for more sound (but not too loud) rather than more power (although a slight gain is noticeable). I had mine removed and replaced with pipe for $40, and love the sound. I was thrilled to not have to spend the money on a cat back.
