Data logging

Is anyone using any data logging on their Mazda 3? If so what system are you using? What are you learning from it?

I've seen some link with a GoPro. I'm interested in learning more about it. Some pictures would be cool if y'all have some. Thank you

If you're specifically referring to logging for auto-x, i can't help. BUT there's an app called Torque that connects with a bluetooth dongle to your ECU. It can display live information as well as data log whatever parameters you want.

Other option is a Dashhawk or whatever it's called. That's probably in the hundreds of $ while the app and bluetooth dongle would run you max 30$

Harry's on my iPhone is what I use.

I need to read up more on how it works though, it didn't seem to save everything from my last event, just laptimes. Something went wrong somewhere with it.. it didn't store all of the Gs per lap etc.

I have friends (that do track days more than autox) who use apps to record runs and then the video file is overlayed with data readouts, but his phone's gps only refreshes at 1 Hz (like most phones), so it can be a bit slow for autox.

I want to find a good data logging method though. Knowing what's happening with the car is important.

Out of curiosity, has anyone considered those attachments to their shocks to log shock movement throughout a course? :) I day dream of those sometimes... even though I don't know what I would do with the data lol.

I use Harry's on my iPhone along with an emprum GPS.

One day I dream of much much more than shock movements through a course :open:

There's that Aim thing, Solo DL(?). I think it works with our ECUs. High roller for that though. $$$.

A good number of people in our region have had success with SoloStorm. The overlays look sweet and it gives all the tech people something to play with in between runs.

Price looks reasonable for the capabilities.

Video from one of our guys at a recent event and link to site.

@mazda3az hey so sorry I forgot to update with pics and info. We used mazdaedit with a tactrix cable. I will sell my cable if any one is interested in it but ya MazdaEdit's data logging is pretty simple.. You load the program and connect the cable and then just click on the data logger icon and it will prompt you to select the ecu you are trying to read and just select auto select and boom! Your data logging.

Now here's the down side. You can for sure hurt your car messing around with the program if you just go in their screwing around so be carful and make sure any adjustments are done while the vehicle is in a cool environment above 50' but below 90' and the battery is hooked to a charger/jumper box so the ecu doesn't loose power during a reflash cuz if it does you are SCREWED and get to buy a new ecu like me that cost 1100$ to mace Mazda install.
