Steve35 You have to have a converter (stock or high flow)to be in STX I don't think the Turbosmart Bypass valve is legal either. The next step up from STX is D Street Prepared.

here is a link to the 2013 draft

it can all be found here

2013 MS3 classification

Does anyone have a clear understanding of the latest SCCA classifications in regards to the Speed 3? The majority of the pages in this thread are completely outdated. I've been led to believe I should run in STX for 2013 but I'm uncertain...

I have an '08.5 MS3.
My current modifications include:
- Cobb SRI
- Test pipe
- SURE Rear motor mount
- SURE short-cut and solid shifter bushings
- Turbosmart Bypass valve
- Eibach Pro Kit
- Koni FSDs
- Cobb rear sway bar
- 8" wide wheels, 225 Dunlop Star Specs
- Hawk HPS pads front and back
- Cryo rotors front and back
- Goodridge SS brake lines

With those mods, if I don't belong in STX, where would you say I belong and why?

Also, I'm considering these mods as well -
- Street Unit passenger side motor mount and tranny mount
- Cobb Accessport
- Turbo Inlet Pipe
- Upgraded top-mount intercooler

Would any of those throw me into a different class?

Thanks!

MattyD87 First, hey all and thanks for all the info in this section; it helped keep me straight in my first year of autocrossing!

For those who have been autocrossing for a while, how much do the rules change between years?? I understand that they recently added STF and that was a huge boon for us MZ3 guys but how about in regards to the individual sections:
Powertrain
Wheels
Brakes
Etc...

Additionally, PZ: You're using 16"x6.5" wheels because they were available on the "Mazda 3" model (so both i and S versions are allowed to use the 16"x6.5" wheels) right??

Thanks a bunch

Re: Autocross FAQ

Thanks, I haven't read up on the '12 rules yet so I didn't know they had added STF. Will definitely be checking that out this year!

Re: Autocross FAQ

and the good news, its the lowest PAX index that there is (unless you are under 14 years old).

Re: Autocross FAQ

^You're good to run in STF (Street Touring Front Wheel Drive). It's a new class for 2012 but uses the same rules as the old ST (Street Touring). CAI, CBE, COs, MMs, wheels, and 225 street tires are all legal to run in STF.

I have done fujita cai, custom cbe, raceland coilovers, awr passenger mount and trz tranny and rear mounts. I'm pretty sure I run in FSP but not sure. Tires are 225/45R17 Bridgestone RE760 on stock rims.

Is that correct?

Might as well run STF with those mods.
