Lost one 3, got a Speed 3

Two weeks ago my brand new, 5 month old 2016 3 was totaled when I was rear ended sitting still by a guy going 70mph. Of course insurance never pays quite enough to get another brand new vehicle, and since I was shopping for a Speed 3 when I ended up with the `16 anyway, I figured I`d look for a good deal on one. I found a fantastic deal on a 2010 Speed 3 that was in great shape. Here`s a picture of the day I picked it up, and then a week later (the all black was the "before" pic):

Nice Speed, Congrats! Hope you got a lawyer, my wife has been hit 3 times now.
I think that there's a decent NATOR group up in the DFW area.

So far there`s been no need for a lawyer (I have one, just no need). The insurance company has been pretty cooperative as it was blatantly the other guy`s fault and there were half a dozen statements confirming it.

I jumped on a NATOR post on another forum and it`s pretty quiet, but there are a lot of members so I`ll just keep an eye out for various meets and whatnot.

Mazdaspeedforums.org has a lot of great info concerning our cars. If you're not already on there, take a look and start up an intro thread. Make sure you have a flame suit on though, they can be brutal if they smell blood!

Oh I`m on there LOL. Some threads over there get outta control. The worst part is getting into a good thread with great info and somewhere along the way you`re going to have to sift through 3 pages of juvenile name calling. But ya know, the Jeep/offroad forums are the same way, as are most of the guitar forums. It`s the internet, a worldwide elementary schoolyard.

I even did the VIP thing over there. Hasn`t really been worth it but I suppose a deal will eventually come along that justifies it.

Yeah, there's some great entertainment if you dig for it. I'm VIP too, and have bought a couple things from sellers.
Haven't made up my mind if I wanna do the BT yet. Seems like every time I mod, shit starts breaking.

I`m looking at BT over the summer. Nothing extreme. Probably 400-425hp with an S4 (or whatever the GTX equivalent is) so I don`t have to run a s**tload of boost. As for now, I`m still looking for a deal on an accessport and HPFP internals. I suspected it might have the internals as it`ll keep 1700psi at WOT but the fact that I don`t know for sure makes it noteworthy. And I hear the upgraded internals will usually do upward of 1900, so I may just have a healthy stocker. Great news for today, means nothing when I start turning the boost up.

I followed this same path with my 300ZX years ago. Built it to make 600hp, tuned it for about 525. Dyno tuned it, got 603 out of it, sold it. Blew up $2K worth of clutches before spending almost that much on one I wouldn`t blow up. Really I just want a fun car that`s reliable as a DD if I take care of it, and be able to give unsuspecting Mustang owners a run for their money.

Unless mine starts smoking, it's staying stock. In the event it does, might go the s4 route. Still hurting from having to rebuild a performance trans in my '56 bug. A few months later, the engine (~7k new) started coming apart. Don't let anyone tell you those old cars are cheap.
