While body reinforcements are a good thing, they do add weight. Airbags are also good, but they also add weight. TPMS adds....... weight.

That said, my 2006 3i has ........no extra airbags, no extra reinforced anything, no TPMS, no ABS or any form of traction control (except right and left feet?), as well as no electric windows, no cruise control, no sunroof, no automatic climate control, and even...... no extra light switch for the dashboard lights to be adjusted during the day. Nothing.

^ I love this!

So, I busted out my old window sticker. Shows what came standard on the 2006 2.3L in basic S trim and also the options my particular car came with. My car has the optional air bags in the A/B/C pillars and had them in the seats too until I got rid of the seats and replaced them with the Corbeau's. Pile on the moonroof with six disc changer too.

Test drove a 2015 2.5 SGT , they did not have a ST, not the first time I test drive one, but this time I was allowed to play with it a little. Handles really well, power and the rpms don't fall too much between gears. 184 HP stock... Feels heavy and big to me actually every car feels big to me .

Not surprised you felt that way. And that was on the street too, we both know AX only makes a car feel bigger/heavier. At end of the day it's a nearly 3,000 lb car with nearly a 106.5 wheelbase. Even the wizards at Mazda can't completely defy physics.
