Rim sizes to stay in street

I just did the rookie school at the local scc and I'm hooked on autox now. I wanted to go to 18's on my 2010 hatch. Would the additional width push me out of h street?

I already have a bunch of bolt ons that as far as I can tell keep me in street. The only one I can't really tell is my springs, racingbeat .5 inch drop, does that bump me out of street? Thanks for the help.

Yes, the extra width will take you from H Street. So will springs, intake,, and anything else not allowed specifically by the rules. Download a copy and become familiar BEFORE changing anything.

I am probably out of street then. I read the rules and when I signed up for the rookie school I gave a list of mods but they didn't changed the street classification. I will talk with the organizers before the first points event to find out where I should be

Do they still come OEM with 17x6.5 wheels? If so I've got a set that would work for you and save weight

I believe that's stock size. I am thinking of going up to 18s though cause i can keep the same weight and I think getting rid of some tire wall will help a lot.

Not really. What would probably be best is ditching unsprung weight...IF you are interested I've got a set of Miata 16x6.5 wheels I ran on my 3. 55mm offset (legal AND narrower track.) and just under 15lb per wheel. I was going to sell them to Per Schroder, but he ended up finding a set locally with Hankooks on them already. The fast RTF guys I saw last year ran the 225/50-16s on 16x6.5s. And since you can get a set for $200 they are PERFECT price wise.

Wheel Sizes

Do a lot of reading of the STF threads around here, or elsewhere. Count how many drivers are using, or even planning on using 18's.

My guess..... slim to none. Try to understand why.

Choose your parts and changes carefully and wisely. Don't be in a hurry. There is a lot to learn, and the biggest improvement is free. Just learn to drive better.

Scott is right...most good drivers can jump in a newbies car and put 5-10 seconds on them having never driven the car before.

Yea, sorry about that Dave, these were too good to pass up.

Definitely sounds like 16s are the way to go
