It's looking like the Hankook RS3 "Version 2" should make the April 30th deadline. Also, there are some new sizes being offered that look pretty tempting. Anyone else thinking of trying these?

T.R. has them up on their website now: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Ventus+R-S3

The 225/45-15 looks like what I'll try on the miata IF I ever get it running.

I honestly can't see myself switching from BFGs now. I've got these things freaking working. And I've got enough Rivals to last me through spring nationals.

HOWEVER, if someone needs some more rotation I'd guess they rotate like the old ones do. The BFGs had more ultimate grip and the RS3 rotated more freely

The Ver2 is supposed to get up to temp easier (like the rival) and...have a compound change? So we'll see if that compound works for autocross.

That's just Greg...I tried them and they were fine on a Mini. What they didn't do is fall off once they got hot. PERFECT pro solo tire for a stock no camber front tire overheating mini.

Exactly, the Kumho is certainly a decent enough tire but I'm pretty sure Greg could kick some ass on all seasons because the guy is an autocross machine.

I recently got some Dunlop Z2's I like them. I discovered they dont like heat. so bring a sprayer to cool them between runs. I wasnt doing this, and for my last run last event I borrowed a buddies sprayer and tried it. droped over a second on a 40 second course. I was amazed at the difference.

Previously I ran Hankook RS3's. I think I prefer them actually. and they do well with the heat, I never bothered with a sprayer.

next I want to try the rivals.

Addicted to track. Parting a 08 MS3. will trade parts for hoosiers.

Yesterday, I instructed at our local Novice Autox School. I spent the last couple days installing my suspension and also my new Hankook RS3 (Version 2) tires. Over the lunch hour at the school, instructors were allowed to give students rides in their own cars. So I took the Focus out for it's first run. Here's what I found...

The new V2 RS3's are terrible in ~45 degree weather with pouring rain and standing water on a car with over 500# springs and a 1-1/8" solid rear bar.

Unfortunately, conditions and set-up were about as horrible as they could be. Hopefully next weekend (our first local event) will be warm and dry. Still trying to decide what tire to run as my "rain" tire.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know when to expect bfg to distribute their contingency tires? I won a tire from the DC pros back in late April but nothing has arrived yet.

Has anyone else earned a bfg payout but have not seen their tires yet?

They were pretty quick to get with me. I'd contact Jacksom Motorsports Group - https://jacksonmotorsportsgroup.com/

They are in charge of distribution. Jenny McAbee @ SCCA sends the contingency info to Jackson and then they contact you. If your email on SCCA is wrong you wouldn't have been contacted.
