STF to FSP build Thread

Well after a lot of consideration I've decided to make the move from HS to STF with my 2006 2.3L. Just a little background on the car, it weighs 2,750 in HS race trim with stock exhaust, floor mats and jack in car, and oem rear spoiler on. It currently has Bilstein B8 sport shocks and a Hotchkis 32mm rear bar. To initiate the change I will be running RTF at Nats in a couple weeks instead of HS and probably at Blytheville this Fall but that is yet to be determined. Prep for STF will begin late Fall and I hope to have the car pretty much read for next Spring.

This is going to be a rather budget build and also is my daily driver so I'm not going to go too hardcore and I'll also use some parts that I already have (like the Bilsteins and RSB). I want to keep the budget around 5K for the whole deal, but can spend less or more depending on how things go.

First stage of the build is deciding suspension setup.

Here's the start of the build and what I already have on the car.

You should buy my suspension for STF, it's gonna work well.

Refresh my memory on what you have? Who makes the best camber plates for our cars?

Re: STF build Thread

There's only 2 options for camber plates, K-Mac & Corksport.

I have custom housings from AWR, Koni 8611 race shocks front, Koni Yellow in rear revalved by Tri-Point, Tri-Point rear bar.

Re: STF build Thread

@Adam Looking forward to following your progress. $5k can go a fairly long way. I have about $4k in mine (not counting tires). I've bought quite a few used parts, all with great success. Also, Mazdaspeed has a great line up of go fast parts at really good prices. One word of advice, get aftermarket motor mounts as soon as possible.

@Tigermack If you're looking to get rid of your K'Macs I'm still very interested.

I am looking forward to your build as I am planning to build STF for the next season as well.

I think you'll go faster and have more fun for less operating costs.

I would totally do that build if I didn't have the CRX.

Re: STF build Thread

This STF thing has been tempting me too, but depending on how "whole-hog" you go can get expensive.....Headers + necessary exhaust to hook up, tune, intake,
coil-overs, camber plates, and more.

If done for only local events, would be less expensive.

My 2008 Hatchback S with 1/2 gas, RB exhaust, and no spare was 2846, or about 100# more than Adam's.

Re: STF build Thread

Intake and header aren't that expensive, probably $400 shipped for both. I'd go for a CAI. It had more upper end and good enough torque, I am running a SRI now after I switched my car back to a DD and you can feel the lack of upper end. The header changed the car the most, though... also you don't have much option for tune since CP-e only did it for 04-06?
