San Diego Tour

I'm signed up for STF and I see Jeffrey McVey from Boise, ID is coming. Long drive! Anyone else?

San Diego way to damn far from Illinois, but I'll be at Lincoln in about a month for the Pro and Tour.

Quite a few Arizona people will be there; I will not, so carry on!

In H Stock Andy Ross (Focus SVT) is the guy I battle with here (he's just recently gone to R tires), and in STX you will meet Clint Child in his Type R, who has been very fast here.

RTF will have Manfred Reysser in his Celica, and although an automatic transmission, seems to be pretty quick. There are many more from
here attending, but those are in the classes "we" relate to most.

Looks like a very strong representation of many good drivers in most classes. Will be fun to watch and listen to.

Re: San Diego Tour

Looks like you had about a 940 PAX score against some pretty healthy competition (Fred).

Well done.

So Justin, Mack, and Steve, any tales from the Tour? Give us the good, bad, and/or the ugly.

Re: San Diego Tour

I wish my camera didn't die. I had some goo vids to share. Mark Kiesel did a fantastic job on course design, a little fast on the 2nd day, but still great. I got in 3rd gear for quite a bit on day 2. My car set up consists of 16x7 Enkeis 225/50x16 RS-3's KW V3 coilovers, Injen CAI and a custom cat back with a 2.5" Magniflow muffler. My co driver and good friend Greg was a great help. He's such a good drivers coach and cheerleader. Got to meet Jeffrey McVey from Idaho, damn what a long drive down! It was Bobby Beyers 7th event! he was driving the Toyota Yaris, If that kid stars to develop that car, I won't be looking forward to him showing up. What a natural he is. Day one was 70 degrees and sunny, day two just a bit overcast and cooler.
Greg and I were very close on our second runs, I don't know where it cam from but I picked up a second on both of my 3 runs, I guess I'm getting used to the mods I've made for STF. This was my second event with the mods I've made. I haven't won at the National level since 2000 with my CSP RX7 . I felt great!! I'll have to post some pics. There's quite a few vids loaded by the STR guys on Miata.net

Can't wait for the Pro this weekend. They had a live video feed on

maybe they'll have it again this weekend

here's a recording of our heat, scroll to the 17 minute mark for the first STF car on track.
