STF for 2012

I'm planning on running STF next year in the 3. Anyone else thinking of going this route? If so what do you plan to do set up wise? I have 15 x 7 wheels I picked up and was wondering which tire would be best. Was thinking of going with the 225/45 15 Hankook RS3, as I have heard the 195 Toyo doesn't work as well on the heavier cars. I ran the Star Specs a couple of years ago on the stock 17"s and really liked then, but a friend has the 15's on his car and I was not impressed. Will probably start with just a RSB and slowly modify the car from there.

Re: STF for 2012

Prepare to get owned by stripped-out Honda Civics. The only two classes where a Mazda3 stands a chance at all is H-Stock and STX.

Umm... Those civics are not stripped out. And the Mazda 3 is going to a class without the civics next year.

Re: STF for 2012

^Yeah, can't strip much in STF. We'll be taking on the 7th, 8th, and 9th gen non-Si Civics.

I'll be running STF next year. See my sig for set up...more stuff coming off the future list before next season too.

Re: STF for 2012

Yeah, STF is the plan for myself next year. As far as prep, I think I'll only be able to manage the AWR front strut setup with some custom valved bilstein non-adjustables and Hyperco springs. The Tri-point RSB looks like the one I'm gonna go with. I already have some 17x7.5 Enkei Fujins as dailys. Looks like they'll become the new autocross wheels with my favorite Z1 Star Specs wrapped around them. Should be enough to dominate PAX locally and trophy at National level events. We'll see though. PAX just seems way low to me for this class.

Even SM-F isn't that stripped...

It WAS way low. If you weren't aware, the PAX factor was changed to 0.794. We're gonna have to run over half a second faster raw time on a 60 second course to match the old 0.787 factor. I believe the new factor is still a little soft, but a lot more accurate.

@eSienk Will I be seeing your STF 3 at CCR/EVO School/TSCC ZMax events next year?

It was a difficult debate, but monotubes won it. And now you can convert Bilsteins to adjustables, so maybe I'll do that in the future.

Re: STF for 2012

I ran 17" Star Specs on the car before. You guys feels the 17" is the way to go over the 15" 225 Kook on a 15x7?
