Rear Seat removal, Does it help?

I've had a few guys tell me to do this to help my times? I have a 09 Ms3, stock suspension. Pretty new at track racing. What do you guys think? Any input is appreciated

No. Get familiar with the sport first.

I agree with Mack, learn how to drive first. After you have sufficient experience, then experiment with weight reduction. I prefer racing the car with no interior, but that's personal preference.

Rear Seat removal, Does it help?

Okay thanks guys. I'm thinking of upgrading to a better set of tires for next season and maybe some kw coilovers.

Re: Rear Seat removal, Does it help?

Weight reduction will help.....

But you have to know how to control a car in a consistent manner first.
Rear seats are about 33 lbs, just letting you know, that's some weight, but not much, it's also in the rear which doesn't help much.

Passenger seat would be a better choice since it's closer to CoG, it's 47 lbs.

But again, if you can't get the most out of a car to begin with, removing weight will hardly make a (if any) difference.

I don't even see the need of removing my rear seats...

Re: Rear Seat removal, Does it help?

Taking out the entire rear interior is worth about 150lbs. Everybit helps when you have such a small amount of power.

Re: Rear Seat removal, Does it help?

Ya I am sure when there is a lack of power it helps but my car has plenty of power. I will keep everything as is (except for the pads I ordered, EBC Yellows) for the remainder of my season and next year upgrade tires and suspension
