Welding Classes in Atlanta?

Wasn't sure where to put this. Not sure why this seemed like the best place, but...

Do any of you guys know where I could take a weekend welding class in the Atlanta area? I'd like to get into modding/fabricating, and learning how to weld seems like as good a place as any to start. I've always wanted to know how to weld, and my dad has been looking for an excuse to buy a 220V Arc welder...

To give a little background, aside from smaller mods in interior/audio, I plan to start off making a go-cart, learning from it, and sell it. THEN build a bigger one (or dune buggy-type thing), learn from everything there, and sell that. AND THEN I'm looking at building a Locost 7 for fun. But to start any of these bigger projects, I need to learn how to weld. I'm not trying to get a degree in welding or make a job out of it -- just trying to become a hobbyist.

Around here, in addition to trade school type classes, you can take not for credit classes more geared towards hobbyists at the local community colleges.

Where is "here" for you? Me and my dad have both been looking into a hobbyist-type welding class, and haven't really found anything local to Atlanta, even at the local community colleges (which we both find to be crazy, since Atlanta is such a big city). My next step is take a visit to a local welding supply store and see if they are any more in-tune with local happenings and classes...

Re: Welding Classes in Atlanta?

I'm in Knoxville, TN. I get these booklets in the mail from both local community colleges and from Univ. of Tenn for these "learning" classes and they all offer a welding class. I can't imagine there isn't something comparable at Kennesaw St or something.
