Ever Seen a Swaybar do This!?!??!

Heard an odd clunk going over a very small expansion joint in the road, and then there was a clanging during load changes while shifting, braking etc. Took a look when I got home, and this is what I found!

This was a 32 mm Cobb front bar. It was well used: 2 years autocrossing on an 2008 DS speed3, and 1 year on my 2010 speed3. There must have been some kind of defect that was exacerbated by all the racing. A few of my engineer friends tell me is a torsion fracture, which makes perfect sense. We were going to swap the stock bar back in anyways, so ultimately, no harm done. I have been driving the last few days without a front bar, and it's not all that bad. Corner exit grip is awesome!

More spring up front would make it feel even better. I doubt thats DS legal though..

That's crazy. Are the gen2 bars same dimensions as the gen1?

I am glad to see my endlinks held up to the torture test.

The only differences I can tell in the gen1 bar vs gen 2 is the mounting location and the bushing shape. The gen 2 bar mounts are farther apart, and the bushing shape is different. We had to modify the cobb bushings just a little bit to make it fit.

The endlinks are still in great shape and will be going back on with the stock bar!

Which front endlinks are those?

How is driving a 100whp car more fun than a 250whp? I KNOW! Right wheel drive.

First off, that is amazing carnage. I would've never thought about that happening. Glad you and your car are okay.

^^^I believe they are PowerGrid endlinks.

Saitech, is your group buy still going on those? I'm in the market for some, my AWRs are on my last nerve.

Actually some friends on mine managed to do that in a 325i track rat. However, it was a 16 year old rusted out piece...
