New England Region SCCA Event #3 May 6, 2007 (video)

This was my 4th run of the AM and was my best run of the day. Unfortunately, a 06 WRX in my class (whom I was up on by 1.1 seconds after this run) beat me by .023 !!!to take 1st in DS. I was clapping at the end because a 1.1 sec lead is huge, but aparently not huge enough. Watching this video over and over its not clear where I left time out on the course, Im sure I can get faster, but maybe the tightness of the course wasnt my bag. This comming weekend will be a much better, faster course which the ms3 will love. Stay tuned for more videos. BTW, the voice of the announcer is none other than our beloved PZ!!! PZ your famous!

Re: New England Region SCCA Event #3 May 6, 2007 (video)

There is SOOOO much more to this story. What Scott doesn't mention is that this run briefly (for about 2 minutes) gave him Top Pax of the day. Right until Ed in the Subaru ran.

I announced this entire heat and had two of the best battles of the day. Scott vs the Subaru, and the F125 battle.

The MS3 and the WRX were all over each others times. Scott had the lead going into this fourth run but had the unfortunate luck of running before the WRX. The WRX driver was about 4 cars behind and got to hear all of Scott's times. The drama built as Scott would run then Ed would beat or come close. It was obvious watching the Subaru run that the fourth runs were going to be close. Both ran about the same lines with the same speeds. Great entertainment.

Both drivers really went for it on their two afternoon runs Scott because he had to and Ed because he knew that Scott was so close. Both were dirty and overdrove, slowing down.

Me, I took four runs in the MZ6 wagon in GS and let 3500lb abuse the Michelins for the last time (Kumho ASX going on Thursday). After the first 4 runs I was in 9th, 5 seconds out, and thouroughly disgusted and informed the driver of a Neon ACR that I was driving his car for the afternoon runs. (Okay, I asked, but I knew he would say yes.) I had not driven a Neon since the late 90's but managed to get used to the car after two runs to jump to 4th. Gawd it was great to drive on a set of Hoosiers again! The car did not turn as well as I remember ACR's turning and after talking to the owner I think it's time for new steering rack bushings and a rack rebuild. When he emails me the video I will post it.

Awesome! I'll be joining you at the NER Solo events starting next month. I'm just getting through the break in period now, so I should make the June 24th event. Any advise for a noob in the region? I did a little autoX a few years ago, and am VERY anxious to get back into it

thanks for making me feel marginally better about losing my so little, it was a great race, just wish i ended on top. Really looking forward to this sunday to get another shot at Ed.

as for you in the 6 wagon and being in 9th 5 sec back, you are certainly car challenged, too bad you dont have that 3 yet

MaxQ would be sweet, I think my next purchase will have to be a 2nd set of tires, not sure how long this first set is going to last. I definately want a datalogger of some sort before too long, at worst, its on the list for next year.

will be cool to have another MS3 out there. My suggestion for you if you want to be competitive, is first and foremost get a good alignment. if you read my posts in the autocross subforum, you can find my specs if you want to copy them since they seem to be doing well for me.
other than that, its just a matter of getting your car prepared (rims, tires, shocks)

Wow, awesome videos. Thanks, I enjoyed them.

Do you have link to that alignment thread? I can't seem to find it... Thanks again.

Re: New England Region SCCA Event #3 May 6, 2007 (video)

Here are the official results:

http://www.ner.org/solo/results/07/2...ent_2_fin.html
http://www.ner.org/solo/results/07/2...ent_2_raw.html
http://www.ner.org/solo/results/07/2...ent_2_pax.html

DS was the closest class, but there were 3 others where the margin of victory was less than .1.

Overall, of the 20 contested classes, half were decided by a half second or less.

Re: New England Region SCCA Event #3 May 6, 2007 (video)

I was 15th in pax and 29th fastest raw
I wont be satisfied till im top 10 pax and top 20 raw. ahh well, the search for the perfect run continues!

btw.. talk about humility.... getting beat by multiple carts, that is certainly humbling, but the tight course we ran allowed them to go full open the whole way where I certainly could not. Look for different people in top pax and ftd's come this weekend at devens. cant wait!!!
