New to forum, need advice!

Hello all, I am new to the forum. I “have” a Mazda 3 2007 my clutch let go the other day on the highway no more acceleration! I want to change the clutch but I am afraid It will cause more problems. I found two people willing to do it for 5-600$ÇA. Pièce and labour.

255,000 km body is mint with anti rust. I’m torn between buying another car or saving my love. Please advise!

First off, welcome!

Now, to the meat of the matter here...
  • I've been driving in and wrenching on cars with manual transmissions for over 40 years and I have never heard of a clutch suddenly letting go, especially on the highway. Are you absolutely sure the issue is your clutch?
  • I strongly suggest you look at your axles before even considering replacing the clutch.
  • Assuming it is in fact the clutch, replacing it for $600 CND is pretty inexpensive. If you opt to get rid of the car and buy something new, where are you going to find something as nice as your car which is that inexpensive?

This. Even a very worn clutch will still drive the car. Anything is possible, but it's highly unlikely that a clutch would suddenly fail like that, even with lots of miles on it.
