I do TEA (invested in a few dozen exotic all natural herbals)as well mostly for guest and the wife. Now that is a PIA and messy with the tea leaves and all the attention to preparation to the final tiny cup. But makes her happy and my guest always seem to have expression of gratitude. I won't go into the "ART" of COFFEE I can tell you it all about the beans used, the preparation and careful monitoring or the temperature. The old 50's /60's peculators worked for their time but do have a lot less desired for heating the coffee.

I've had my share of burnt & bad gas station coffee while on road trips. I had to travel to Florida on business in May, and our office out there has horrible coffee. I think the coffee on most airlines is fairly awful as well. I was stationed in the Seattle area when Starbucks really started taking off, and I thought their coffee tasted like ass. I never got into adding anything more than cream & sugar to mine. I think I tried a cup a couple of years ago and -- yup, Starbucks still tastes like ass.

I didn't know what truly good coffee was until my mother made some with an antique stove top percolator when I was in my early-20s. It wasn't until a few years ago I finally bought a grinder and stove top percolator. Noting smells better (to me) than percolated coffee as it's finalizing brewing.
Worst cup of coffee I ever had was just off US41 in Vincennes Indiana at about 2:30 in the morning. I'm surprised it didn't eat through the cup...

I made a sign (you may have noticed it in previous pictures)and painted the front with "chalk" paint. Now I can have the wife change it every now and then.

We all have our personal Coffee cups. I have a few. This one I have had for about 20 years. At one time it was actually a drinking cup for my 6 foot Iguana(passed away after 18 years). Just like the picture on the cup.

One of our guys from Brazil has a son who is a professional chef. This guy comes to the US at least three times per year, mostly to the Florida office but occasionally out office in OKC. He brought me some Brazilian coffee during a recent visit based on a recommendation of his son. I'm waiting for the right time to grind the beans and sample the wares. I may grind the beans for a drip maker should someone else in the office bring one so we can make coffee.

I'm no coffee snob, but I love coffee of all sorts and styles. I drink far too much of it, per everyone that knows me well... like to the point that it may be a problem some day.

My personal favorite is home made cold brew that has sat for 12 hours in my fridge in a half gallon mason jar.

After it has brewed, I pour it through a paper filter into a second jar and it's pure heaven. No sweetener or cream needed, just smooth black cold brew coffee. The beans used make a big difference in the final flavor, as you can really taste their full flavor this way. I usually just steal free coffee from work, but they have a Kona blend and a house Starbucks blend that works well enough. Not the best, but good enough to get me going in the morning.
