Yes the FB Groups are not a car Forum....People ask redundant Q's in FB Groups...vs. here an actual Car Forum where you can "search" or look at different threads already.

People now-a-days cant even search on GOOGLE or the internet.

I've tried long and hard to keep this forum kicking, but my days here are numbered as Mazda dropped the ball and didn't provide me with a Gen3 Mazdaspeed. I'll still pop in from time to time but now that I have a WRX and I'm super busy with life stuff, I probably won't be here much.

Hopefully someday kids will realize that facebook cannot replace a forum.

Just give it time. Facebook will go the way of Myspace, and FaceTheJury before that. Its just the current version, to be replaced by the next big thing.

Are you going to be highly annoyed when the next MazdaSpeed3 comes out?

I use various auto forums primarily to monitor for common and systemic problems and repairs on the 6 family vehicles I maintain. So from that perspective, I'm very pleased to not be seeing heavy activity on this forum

I regularly scan the list of new postings looking for non-trivial issues, and my experience has been that systemic problems do show up even on the less active forums. Yes, there's typically lots of those 1-posters who never return to follow up on what they posted. In the threads I reply to, trying to help others with my experiences, I expect to not get a reply around 9 out of 10 times. It's just the way it is.

But if the same set of symptoms are posted multiple times, even without any additional posting or resolution, that usually is an indicator that there's likely a defect somewhere that's causing the same problem repeatedly. Although it's more than a little irritating that there is so little follow up, just seeing the problems posted is a big plus for me. I currently am aware of (and can monitor) 3 systemic issues on our Kia Forte that I was able to smoke out early as a result of forum postings, even though the Kia forums are much less active than this one!

My first, and continuing impression of my daughter's 2011 3i is that it's an extremely solid vehicle. Knock on wood, she's had no problems, and all I've had to do is oil, brakes, plugs, and a battery. So the fact that I see no problems being repeatedly posted for that gen tends to confirm that our experience is typical of these vehicles.

I'm an older guy who doesn't use social media. And the lack of search would make it far less useful to me, even if I was on FB. So personally I hope these forums don't go away, even the ones that are less active.

I suspect many folks will, or at least may discover how much more utility they can gain from a forum versus Facebook, and we may well see a return to more activity. I'm a moderator on a couple of other car related forums and the only one which seems to still be gaining significant numbers of new members and lots of new posts is one dedicated to the Chrysler Minivans; maybe the demographic of those owners is such that Facebook hasn't taken over their lives (yet?).

Funny side note about Facebook; my "little brother" calls that site "Facesuck" as many folks seem to, well, you know, get their faces sucked into their computer/phone screens when they're on the site.
