At that size they look fine, so I assume you mean they aren't sharp at full size?
Canon 350D (XT), Sigma 17-70 f/2.8
The first batch were all taken at ISO 100 various shutter speeds and f-stops. The sunrise one was ISO 800, can't recall the shutter speed and i think it was at f/4.5ish. Oh filter wise, don't laugh... a cheap-o sunpack 72mm UV. The filter will be gone soon, replacing it with a B&W CP or a Hoya UV, or both lol. I got the filter because it only cost me $6 at work (Best Buy). It was a quick fix to protect my new lens since i had no time to pick up the "real" one.
And yeah. At full size they are eh. PB interwebz status makes them look ok.
