Question 2006 3i 2.0 - Loose Radio/Climate Controls

Hello fellow mazdonians! I am curious if I am the only one that has this problem. I have searched all of the googles and this forum and haven't seen anything about this. I just installed a Pioneer 7" double din Stereo/Media Center. However I notice that the bottom of the radio doesnt want to seem to stay in and kind of pushes out twords the shifter. I can physically move the bottom of the radio back like 1/2 inch but it doesn't stay there. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem since there are now screws below. Also if you did have this issue, how did you solve it?

Thanks so much!

What kit did you use? Also, pictures would be nice.

This is one of the reasons I like to buy from Crutchfield. Their tech services after the sale are next to none. They would walk you through this to get it fixed step by step. Well worth the extra $10 that you probably "saved" buying the radio somewhere else.

I got a replacement HU and all associated kits through Crutchfield. The lower part of the HU has the same issue as you - it just clips in but does not sit tight - about half an inch of play. It also means my climate controls (below) are a bit loose.

I am back with half my dash disassembled for other reasons and will be looking at how to make this seat better. May need some 3D printed clips.

Cheers, Greg.

I was able to firm up the seating if the HU and climate controls with a little glue gun addition. See photo. Two glue deposits near lower corners of the Metra 7504.
