New 2013 M3 Hatch issue - Headlights dim when letting off gas pedal?

Hello everyone,

I got my new 2013 Mazda 3 Hatchback (manual) about 2 weeks ago. From the day I got the car, I noticed the headlights sometimes dimmed for a second but thought it may be in my head.

After a couple of weeks of night driving under my belt, I've discovered that when I am in a gear, rev up, then quickly take my foot off the gas pedal, my headlights dim for a second. It doesn't seem to matter whether the A/C is on or off.

Is this normal? If not, is there any known fix?

I was going to call the dealer but thought I'd first ask here since you all are gurus of the M3!

Best regards,
Trem

That's a relief - is there any known fix for this or is it one of those "you got to live with it" type of things?

Not the end of the world but it is a bit annoying for us obsessive-compulsive types. :P

You could do the "big 3 upgrade". Reinforced the main electrical pathway and may provide more stable voltage, but this is pretty normal.

My 2012 does this as well and is normal. A relay harness solves this.
