SilverStars vs. 5000K HIDs

I recently decided to give a pair of DDM Tuning's 5000K HIDs a try . . . but I had concerns about quality, and wasn't positive they'd beat Sylvania SilverStars in terms of light output. Well, I installed the HIDs this afternoon, they work fine so far, and you can see the difference in output for yourself below. (These images were cropped to make them line up better, but weren't altered in any other way.)

Put together a third photo for my records, and figured I'd go ahead and share. Not sure what's up with the red halos -- I had my camera in "night snapshot" mode -- but you can tell a lot by looking at the pavement in front of the car.

I run Osram Rallye 65 watt H7's. Outstanding light output, no glare and cheap.

I don't know man I'm running the silver stars or which ever are supposed to be the best and the output is nice and bright.

I have 6k DDM HID's waiting to be installed, though I'm probably going to replace the bulbs with TRS Morimoto H7 bulbs, and I just haven't had a reason to install them since my halogens are bright.

Yeah about to say; go ahead and spend the $50 to get the Morimito bulbs and your output will nearly double again lol

There are two different kind of Silverstar bulbs, Osram Silverstars and Sylvania Silverstars. Osram are some of the best bulbs you can get, Sylvanias are crap. You can tell the difference between the two as the Sylvanias have a blue tint.

Yeah, for what it's worth, my old bulbs are definitely stamped "Osram," but I'm pretty sure the packaging had the Sylvania name on it.

This is definitely not true. H9 halogens for instance put out more usable light on the road than a DDM HID kit does in 2nd Gen Koito projectors.
