Fog light help?

So i have the OEM halogen fog lights on my mazda 3. But i want to change them so they look yellow but i have a couple questions...

1) Whats the difference between these: http://www.amazon.com/9006-Nokya-250...og+lights+9006
and an HID kit? if i get the ones from amazon, will they still be brighter than the OEMs?

2) I know the fogs are 9006...are all 9006 sockets the same? My friend tried putting an HID kit on my mazda before and it said 9006 but it didnt fit :\ will the ones from amazon be like the stock fog lights and just fit right in? cuz i know the OEMs just come right out..i can just slip these on right?

Thanks!

Re: Fog light help?

OH one more question...what part does the "wattage" play for fog lights? is there a certain wattage that the fog lights can take?

Re: Fog light help?

Same here.....I first installed "yellow" bulbs but they were pretty much the same as the stock 9006 bulbs. Then went to lamin-x and got some fog light covers (yellow film) and they are the perfect solution. Here's the link: http://www.lamin-x.com/Mazda-3-Wagon...ers-p/m119.htm

Also, you can search GOOGLE for a discount code on lamin-x products (I did) and save a few bucks.

You won't be sorry with the lamin-x film!

Re: Fog light help?

the thing is tho, i want my lights to be brighter too. what if i get some 6000k bulbs AND add lamin-x...would the output be brighter than the OEMs? obviously i want the yellow lights so it'll look cool :P but it'd be nice to get some extra lighting at night...

Re: Fog light help?

Go with 5000k and the Lamin-X. The output will be brighter than OE and it will be more yellow. If you do 6000k then you run the risk of getting a pair that are more blue and it will ruin the effect for this application.

And of course, post up pics before and after!

Re: Fog light help?

Even if you go for HID fogs, you really won't project light down the road....the output will be brighter, no doubt.....but the factory fogs just dump the light almost straight down. I adjusted my fogs up to the max upper adjustment notch, doing so helped get more light out front but in no way is the output bright enough to drive at night. BTW......if you want "yellow" fogs, you would be better of sticking with the factory 9006 bulbs which have a kelvin of about 3000 which is pretty much on the yellow side.....good luck....I had the DDM HID kit installed in my fogs and went back to the halogen 9006 bulbs and lamin-x film.

Re: Fog light help?

To adjust(aim) your fogs.
1. Open up the little black plastic panel on the bottom side of the car under the fog.
2. Loosen screw
3. Tilt up
4. Tighten screw
5. Close panel.
6. Repeat on other side.
