they finally made those DRLs

So they finally came out with the DRLs in the position i'm looking for ( links below) ;which leaves only the question for anyone who knows. Being that my 2010 3SGT is one of the original released models, with the "ATX trans cooler" in the position behind the open slotted fog bezel, which along with the desired location for these DRLs bring air to the ATX cooler. Do you think blocking this slot would significantly affect the cooling due the the change in air flow? Which leads to the question of how exactly the openings in the drivers side function together. Does anyone know if air flows in above the fog light and perhaps expels out this lower opening (DRL position) in the bumper; or perhaps both are intakes? Or would the addition of the second trans cooler make up the difference? Any insight is appreciated, and if anyone's purchased them if would be great to get some feedback.

found these on ebay and then the other while searching the net a bit cheaper;enjoy!

Re: they finally made those DRLs

Those won't block any substantial airflow, most of the air comes in above the fog light and exits elsewhere, not from the front of the bumper.

Here's a link to get these same lights from a U.S. seller....they claim 2-5 business day delivery....shipped from U.S.A.

Re: they finally made those DRLs

Thanks, they're a bit pricey and I'm really on the fence about getting them; I'm still just a bit concerned about closing that vent off. I'm sure it'll be fine for normal commute driving ; but I could see the possible issues with extended highway travel. I really don't know how much air is taken in there but they way i see it; a scoop doesn't need to be oversized to get air in so much as it has to be at the right angle at speed. I'm thinkin about adding the second trans cooler thought if I do decide to put these on. I'm not too sure if I dig the chrome trim on these either ; thought I havent seen it in person or on my color yet, and theyre the only custom fit solution right now. If anyones put em into a 3 with the ATX trans cooler in this location or done anything similar it would be good to hear or see the results.

Re: they finally made those DRLs

Does anyone know of any DIY guides on how to install these lights? I have a '12 3s GT and am wanting to pick up some of these but installation instructions on those eBay listings are horrible at best. Does installing these require any drilling through those ports in the bumper?

I dont think they fit the 12+ modlsl; the bumper slot in the newer ones is a slightly different shape and size

I wonder if they'll fit the Skyactiv 3? It looks like the same shape as my bumper...

The vents these insert into are non-functional. The 2010 ATX tranny cooler air induction vent is above the left fog light. And yes adding a second tranny cooler drops fluid temp by almost 50 clicks standard. If you add a cryo ring like I have it will drop the temp 90-100 clicks. Huge difference in the attitude of the shifting.

That stuff coming out of your HUGE chrome exhaust you have mounted at an angle isn't power..It's Rice!!!

Another set of DRL

These are sweet and look good IMHO, also pricey but clean and looks like it should be there.
