seal on morimoto retro-quik system from TRS

I'm installing the bi-xenon projectors from the retro-quik kit from TRS and I can't figure out how to seal the back of the headlights with the bulb, the new projects is so in-set from where the halogen was from the back that the old grommet won't make a seal to prevent water from getting in. any ideas?

Picture will help understanding your issue.

Which projector did you get? mini D2S or H1 or some OEM Bi-Xenon projector?

I don't have 2010+ housing spec detail with me but do you think one of rubber housing cap(what TRS sells) can fit?

Re: seal on morimoto retro-quik system from TRS

Yea, the rubber ones from TRS will fit. The issue is the OEM grommet doesn't make contact with the D2S bulb I have, so the small gap could let water/dust in.

It's summer now so I'll chance it until some grommets arrive from TRS. I might make some kind of "temporary gromet" out of electrical tape to cover the area.

I did realize as I was putting the bumper back on that completely removing the bumper is not necessary to remove the headlights, wish I had known that when I started, but I did need to remove the bumper to put in the vented foglight trim and remove the silver fog light trim pieces for painting.

Re: seal on morimoto retro-quik system from TRS

I put the seal on, and then discovered that my seal job (overall) was not so good, after going thru a car-wash (my version of worst case scenario) and found a cloud of moisture near the turn signal on the drivers side. It also looked like some had gotten in the passenger side as well. I doubt I'll see much penetration in normal conditions tho since the car wash is a fairly intense water environment and not much got in. I will have to have these professionally sealed someday but being in Boise Idaho, I'm not going to fret about it.
