Want to paint inside of headlight and tail light

I want to modify the inside of my head lights and tail lights...3 questions

1. Do the tail lights even come apart?

2. Can someone point me to a DIY on taking apart headlights... I am familiar with baking headlights but have not done it on a mazda3 yet.

3. Is it common to remove / paint the yellow trim inside the headlight?

They do come apart. Everyone ive seen done they have done the baking method like is done with all the other headlights.
some of the reflectors will just pop out if you don't want them in there. Or like you said you can just paint them. I would just do them how you want to and see how it turns out.

There are plenty of pics of this on the forum. I painted my headlight and blinker areas black and the reflector went gunmetal to match the smile. It is mandatory, can't remove it, would be a huge hole/gap in the assembly.

Our lights are gigantic and can't fit in the oven. Plan on a heat gun and a friend. It goes quite self explanatorily.

I tried the tail lights....not so easy, they do come apart but it takes more persuasion than a simple bake cycle in the oven. In my opinion, which is not an expert opinion by any means, is that unless you have extra tail lights and a dremmel tool, you might want to leave them as is.

Gen 2 might be different than gen 1 though.

I don't think they are. Still plastic welded or whatnot... I have yet to see a modified gen 2 tail light. Yet I have seen hundreds of headlights... Someone needs to make nice aftermarket tails sometime soon.

JDM covers for the tails were made before... and I've seen some ugly chrome covers as well.
