6000k halogen bulbs?

I'm considering getting some of the tinted halogen bulbs for my foglights instead of going xenon to avoid glare out of the foglight housing while keeping the color matching my headlights (which will be 6000K). I'm also going to remove the metal shield to improve the lighting.

Any recommendations on 6000K halogen bulbs? About the only ones I've found are these (links below), but I'm not sure they are the same quality as say a 4200K SilverStar zxe bulb set.

Re: 6000k halogen bulbs?

Corksport has some LED fog bulbs that match the 6000k HIDs pretty well. I have a set in both my 6 and cx7.

Yea the CS LED ones looks nice. Plus, they wont run as hot as halogens so no worry about aftermarket bulbs melting your lights. If not, get HID kit? haha thats what I did

How much road illumination to the CS LEDs provide?

I'm not sure, usually I have my HID lows on and they drown out anything from the fogs. Next time I'm out at night I'll check. I know if you retro fit a projector housing into your fog lights you can drive at night with just them on like I have done a couple times without realizing it, lol. Though not many people want to fab up a custom bracket to fit projector housings.

Re: 6000k halogen bulbs?

I put LED lights in my fogs and they have little bit more blue than my 5000K HIDs. They don't throw much light, but the color looks nice. Also you can get cheaper LED bulbs from ebay.

These are the ones I have.

Re: 6000k halogen bulbs?

I was afraid of that with LEDs, I want the fogs to be functional as fog lights but don't want to go the route of retrofitting xenon projectors into them, so 6000K halogen bulbs are likely my best bet.

Re: 6000k halogen bulbs?

It was a little dark this morning so I was able to test them out finally. I'd say the light output for me was on par with the stock fog light bulbs. I think if you had a LED replacement with lots of LEDs on it you'll get the result you want. I can't remember how many the CS ones had off the top of my head but it was bunch on each light so that may be why it was on par with stock halogen.

Re: 6000k halogen bulbs?

The CS bulb is 23 LED, honestly I'd prefer something more like 48 or 68 LEDs on each bulb to use for actual illumination. I am going with a 68 LED DRL for the high beams when I install bi-xenons in the low beam spot.

The foglights are HB4 / 9006 bulbs.

I found 68 and 96 LED bulbs.

Just so you know, the number of bulbs isnt everything. The higher end bulbs actually use less LEDs. The ones that have 68 are using very cheap ones. Try to find "Cree" LEDs, "Luxeon" is also OK. Look at how many watts the bulbs are also, the more watts, the more power your LEDs are using.

Dont run 6000K halogens if you expect any light output from them at all.

An HID kit is your best bet if you want good colour and good light output.

Cheap LEDS + Halogen( Tinted to 6000K) = minimal light output

Good LEDS = Some light output, still less than OEM Halogens

HID = Good colour, far brighter than OEM
