Adding mazdaspeed tech package stuff after car is purchased?

Hello all,

I am hopefully going to get a 2012 ms3 but it is just the touring model. I was wondering if i can get parts of the tech package seperately from the dealership. I really want the self-leveling Bi-Xenon headlights but the car is already there and really have no need for the rest of the package. I have no problem buying and putting in an aftermarket HID kit.

It's a completely different housing for the xenon and halogen headlights. If you want to do drop in HIDs in your car that'll work, but adding tech package stuff will be more expensive and a huge pita compared to just spending the $1500 on the package.

how will a drop-in HID kit fair for my low/high beam? Are they the same on both housings or does the non-tech package actually use 2 seperate bulbs as opposed to the bi-xenon that i believe moves to refocus the light output?

Nevermind. I had not seen 2 pictures of the different headlights before. They are indeed different. Well then i will have to ask if they can add the tech package to it now since it it already sitting at the dealership. But the new tech package on the mazda site is 2500 and that is alittle pricey considering all i want are the headlights and tail lights.

Well, you can price it out, however installing the factory bi-xenons is not conducive to your time or money. The tails are at least $500 for the LEDs iirc, at the end of the day I think just getting the package will be easier, IMO. I wish the bi-xenon option came on the 2010 speeds, I'd definitely have paid extra for that option. Love factory HIDs and I think the bi-xenon cleans up the front so much.

Not sure who bought what, but I thought I'd jump in on this. I was looking to install the bi-xenon set-up after-the-fact as well. If your HIDs are not already self-leveling, buying the self-leveling lights isn't so simple/cheap. From what I've read/been told, the leveling feature involves sensors with steering, etc. Not cheap. Much cheaper and easier to just buy the tech package (or whatever it is that offers the lights) if the lights are what you want. Consider the rest of the stuff in the package a bonus.
